Elaboración de un proceso de conservación de la estructura del pavimento de la Vía Camino Real (norte) en el tramo km 7+600 hasta km 11+400 del cantón Ambato, provincia de Tungurahua

The Camino Real (North) road, which is considered an alternative to the Panamericana Norte, allows moving from the canton Ambato to the canton Salcedo in Cotopaxi, helping the mobility and economic growth of the sector; Consequently, there has been evidence of an increase in heavy traffic causing the rolling layer of the latter to deteriorate. At the beginning of the investigation, the georeferenced survey was carried out for the location of the road, followed by a manual vehicle capacity for the determination of the TPDA and future traffic, classifying it as a "Collector - Class I" road. Also, a visual inspection and evaluation of the current condition of the pavement were carried out using the PCI method, identifying recurrent faults such as alligator cracking, potholes, patches, and weathering, obtaining an average PCI value of 68.15 corresponding to a "Good" state. Similarly, the deflection measurement test was performed with the Benkelman beam, resulting in a "Type I" deflection. Finally, to complement the work, laboratory and field tests were carried out on soil samples representative of the area such as granulometric analysis, Atterberg limits, modified Proctor, CBR, field density, and natural moisture, which is mostly classified as a "silty sand" type soil. Based on the results obtained, repair options were proposed according to the type of fault.

As an alternative route to the Panamericana Norte that connects the province of Tungurahua and Cotopaxi, the Camino Real (North) route must provide security and serviceability to users. The purpose of this technical project is to study the behavior of the pavement structure and propose a road conservation process for the km 3+800 to km 7+600 section for which a digital model of the road was made with the help of a survey georeferenced using a GPS satellite receiver. The traffic study was carried out from a manual vehicle capacity carried out 12 hours a day for seven days, the average annual and future daily traffic was calculated, classifying the road as a "Collector Road - Class I" according to the MTOP. To catalog the current state of the pavement, the PCI methodology was used, evaluating the pavement condition as "Bad". Moreover, a study of the asphalt folder was carried out, determining the deflections of the pavement by the Benkelman Beam test and the percentage of asphalt present in the asphalt mixture of the track. To complement these studies, laboratory tests were performed on the subgrade material of the pathway, including granulometric analysis, Atterberg limits, modified Proctor Type B, and CBR, concluding that the predominant material in the path is classified as "Silty sand" quality that varies between "Bad" and "Regular - Good". Finally, considering the results of each study, a road conservation plan is proposed
