Item Academic blogs to develop reading comprehension in students from superior education(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado. Maestria en la Enseñanza del Idioma Inglés como Lengua Extranjera, 2019-02) Ruiz Morales, Mercedes Isabel; Iza Pazmiño, Sarah JacquelineThis research is based on the application of academic blogs, as tools for reading comprehension development in students from superior education. In the study, students from the third and fourth English level at the Language Center from the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo of Riobamba city were considered. Who presented a low level of reading comprehension in the English area. The main objective of this work was to investigate the influence of academic blogs on the development of reading comprehension in students from superior education. From the application of a survey it was determined that the methodology used by the teachers does not contribute to an acceptable level of reading comprehension in English students. The study was carried out under a quantitative method, with quasi-experimental design with pre- and post-test measurements; to determine statistically significant differences in the reading comprehension process of two groups of students; by applying a reading project based on the use of an academic blog to develop reading comprehension in English; scheme formed by: the first control group made up of third-level students who do not use the blog in their reading project (G. A, n = 20); the second experimental group conformed by the fourth level students who use the academic blog for their reading project (G. B, n = 40). The results indicate that the students of the fourth level demonstrated at the end of the project a significant development in the comprehensive reading. Since students now have a greater reflection and analysis capacity that allows them to express their ideas, thoughts and opinions after reading an academic text. In contrast to the third level students who had a lesser development of reading comprehension skills, just based on the use of the English text. These findings require that teachers begin to use technology as support for instruction. Educators can no longer choose not to integrate technology into their daily routine. We are in a time when technology is the support of learning.Item The portfolio as a resource aimed at the development of the English writing process in higher education(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado. Maestría en Diseño Curricular y Evaluación Educativa, 2018-07) Armijos Ango, Gabriela del Rocío; Vera de la Torre, Ana JazminaThis research project aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of the portfolio in the development of the writing process in higher education. That is why, through a quantitative qualitative methodology, and correlational variables it was able to determine that students showed deficiency in the development of writing and for this reason a pre-test and post-test were done. It is important to mention that this research work was carried out during the semester September 2017 - February 2018 where students from A1 starter level of the Universidad Técnica de Ambato participated. To obtain a representative sample of the study population, four parallels corresponding to this level were randomly selected. To obtain a representative sample of the study population, four parallels corresponding to this level were randomly selected. These number of students were 119 and they were divided into two groups; the experimental group and the control group. These groups were examined through the pre-test and post-test. After applying these assessment instruments, the data analysis was carried out and it reflected significant progress in the development of writing skills through the use of portfolios. In addition, it was evidenced that the use of portfolios in the class helps the students to be more autonomous in their learning process since the portfolios help to provide a feedback of the tasks they perform and this is the reason why the portfolios benefit the development of the writing process and therefore to the improvement of written production. Due to these factors, the proposal of this research work was developed and it is focused on the use of activities to develop the writing process through the use of portfolios.Item La ansiedad en el rendimiento académico y militar de los aspirantes a soldados de la Escuela de Formación de Soldados de la Fuerza Terrestre, promociones 2005-2007 y 2006-2008.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado., 2017-11) Albán Coello, Luis Marcelo; Medina Guerra, FranklinThe aim of the research is to determine the relationship between anxiety and academic performance and its influence on the staff of Aspirants, considering that anxiety is an anticipated fear of a future danger whose origin is unknown or not recognized. Physical symptoms include muscle tension, sweating in the palms of the hands, stomach upset, shortness of breath, impending fainting, tachycardia, need to avoid places, people or situations that cause fear, irritability, nausea, dizziness, tremors, repeated doubts , excessive dizziness and worry, common causes, whatever their origin, the central feature of anxiety is intense mental discomfort, the feeling that the subject will not be able to control future events; can alter work or academic performance, social relationships and even prevent a couple, conceiving, in the same way that academic achievement in students is a consequence of several aspects, such as individual abilities, their school reality in terms of methodology, their social environment, their interpersonal relationship in the classroom, both with teachers, and with xxiii their peers. Reflections will be aimed at understanding family functioning factors: types of relationships maintained by members, hierarchies, limits, communication, participation, style of coping with problems, influence academic performance. Therefore the objective of this research is to determine the level of linkage that exists between the levels of anxiety that is concentrated in the student and the degree of influence that results in academic performance from the results obtained; it also seeks to provide information on how civilian teachers, military instructors and educational psychologists intervene in these aspects and try to solve various difficulties that affect the student, developing strengths and abilities to overcome when presenting cases.
