Carrera de Espacios Arquitectónicos., 2017-11) Silva Aldás, Claudio Andrés; Viteri Medina, Galo AlejandroThe present research project is based on the problems existing in the interior spaces of housing in housing complexes of the city of Ambato, where the use of wood as material for the design and construction of furniture and ended limited. The main objective is the study of the different types of wood that exist in our environment, their physical characteristics and the benefits they bring to the comfort and functionality of the interior space of housing. On the other hand, the results obtained through the research, aim to promote the use of wood as a comfortable, durable, aesthetic and traditional design element, providing the user with an environment with better furniture and finishes, improving the feeling of habitability. These first fruits are based on the investigative background and the information collected resulting from the surveys applied to the users of the Mirador Santa Rosa Complex houses and experts in modeling, construction and wood design. In this sense, it is evident the feasibility of using this material for construction, design and decoration, since its aesthetic and functional qualities, such as strength, durability, hardness, etc., are suitable for furniture and finishes. Quality, that will maintain its functions, cozy sensations and beauty during much more than other materials. The intervention will cover all the spaces of the building (living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, etc), including furniture, doors, windows and floors. By means of wood, as the material of design, the furniture models are established specifically adapted to the spaces of this type dwelling; Considering first the needs of the users and the functional requirements of the building. The previous analysis of the different types of wood allows establishing that, due to their qualities, they are the most suitable for the design and the adequacy of the elements of the house and that best satisfy the user; Being perfectly applicable in the rest of houses that make up the housing complex.
