El discurso informativo sobre la inmigración venezolana en Ecuador en el diario El Universo

Abstract

The research is part of the project: "NETNOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL COMMUNICATION IN TIMES OF PANDEMIC AND/OR POST-PANDEMIC COVID 2019", belonging to the Social, Democratic and Educational Strengthening Domain, of the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Social Sciences, with the Research Lines Communication, Society, Culture and Technology and Social Exclusion and Integration. This research work aims to describe the informative discourse that the newspaper El Universo disseminates in the construction of its news. For this case, the object of study starts from a particular fact that is the murder of Diana Carolina by her partner Yordis Lozada, who was a Venezuelan citizen; an event that impacted the Ecuadorian population in a media and psychological way; this triggered acts of racism, marginalization and xenophobia against the Venezuelan immigrant population. In the present project, a critical analysis of the news discourse was carried out, the approach used is predominantly qualitative, likewise, to enrich the research, a background reading was carried out through bibliographic research applying digital netnography in which online automation is deepened. Of the media to achieve the immediacy offered by social networks and citizen journalism. Finally, through the interpretation of the data, the predominant result was obtained that the media uses xenophobic language in the writing of said news.
