Item CONSUMO DE DROGAS Y SU INFLUENCIA EN EL RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO DE LOS ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(2025-06-17) Millingalli Ortega Leydi Nicole; Yeisy Cristina Guarate Coronado; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaPsychostimulant drugs increase brain activity, temporarily improving alertness and performance. However, its consumption can have negative effects on physical and mental health. In the academic environment, pressure can lead to risky behavior. Since 2020, the use of these substances has increased among nursing students, highlighting the need for effective interventions. Objective: To elaborate a theoretical construct on the discourse of the participants of the study in relation to drug use and its influence on academic performance in the nursing career. Method: A mixed approach was used. The quantitative method was non-experimental, transversal and descriptive, with a sample of 400 students selected through stratified sampling. Two instruments were applied: the "Alcohol, Tobacco and Substance Use Screening Test" (ASSIST) and a questionnaire on psychostimulants. The qualitative approach included 7 semi-structured interviews, analyzed following the Demaziere and Duvar methodology. Results: 71.5% of the students are over 20 years old, with female predominance (81.8%). Most consume coffee and energy drinks, reporting side effects such as insomnia and anxiety. Many believe that psychostimulants improve their academic performance, although family support varies. Conclusion: Respondents consume various substances, with a main focus on improving their academic performance, while family influence plays an important role in this context.Item Factores de riesgo para el consumo de drogas en adolescentes(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Enfermería, 2022-10-12) Marcial Tisalema, Jennifer Soraya; Guarate Coronado, Yeisy CoronadoThe use of psychotropic substances represents a public health problem that affects more than 269 million people worldwide, with a higher incidence among adolescents, consideredthe most vulnerable group. The objective of this study is to determine the risk factors for drug use among adolescents in an educational unit in Ambato, Ecuador. This is a quantitative, descriptive, field and cross-sectional study. The population consisted of 514 students between 15 and 17 years of age from an educational unit, with a sample of 347 students. The instrument used was the risk factor survey applicable to adolescents at the secondary level. Consent and assent were requested from the participants after informing them of the objectives of the study. The results showed that 306 adolescents consumed drugs, 73.2% of whom were between 16 and 17 years of age, 51.6% were female, 74.2% lived with both parents, 78.8% of the students reported a regular relationship at home, 85.6% maintained an average level of communication with their parents and 77.1% of the students who consumed drugs said they were aware of the subject. However, 85.9% do not consider tobacco and alcohol as drugs and 37.9% admit to having consumed by choice. A relationship was found between the variables sex and knowledge about drugs and drug use in adolescents. Finally, the high level of lack of knowledge about drugs influenced drug use. Esp.The consumption of drugs in adolescents around the world is a complex and multifactorial phenomenon that derives from the combination of several elements, so the main research objective of this research project was to analyze the factors associated with drug use (personal, susceptibility, benefits and severity) in the adolescents of the Espíritu Santo Educational Unit of the Ambato canton. For the development of the project, a descriptive methodology of bibliographic-documentary and field modality was used, which included 23 adolescents from the eighth to the third year of the unified general baccalaureate to whom the survey technique was applied, which was structured on the basis of beliefs (Rosenstock Model) and related to drug use. The investigation allowed to conclude that the majority of students consume drugs or have consumed them at some point in their lives, it was established that men are more susceptible to their experimentation and consumption, in ages between 17 and 20 years of age (late adolescence ) and whose family structure is single parent (1 single parent), it was also determined that among the main benefits that adolescents receive with drug use are those of the individual aspect such as forgetting problems, reducing stress-anxiety, and in the group aspect: social acceptance and ease to form bonds of friendship, finally that the severity of drug consumption is not perceived by adolescents, who assume that both the cultural model and their families and educational institutions exaggerate the damage they cause.
