Carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y Comunicaciones, 2022-03) Del Salto Paredes, Anthony Danilo; Brito Moncayo, Geovanni DaniloThe present project describes the development and implementation of an electronic monitoring and alert system for the conservation of laboratory samples and bacterial cultures in the Muñoz Clinical Laboratory, located on Convención de 1884 and Selva Alegre street in the city of Guaranda , province of Bolívar, based on the main threats to which laboratory samples are exposed due to their temperature stability, as well as the importance of maintaining an optimal environment for the monitored growth of bacteria, fundamental tests for the determination of infections caused by pathogenic microorganisms, where an appropriate treatment is subsequently carried out by the responsible doctor. For the development of this proposal, end nodes made up of sensors and wireless transmitters were used, which send the data of the variables of interest such as temperature and presence of gas to a main server through the MQTT protocol, where, through the broker, these data are displayed in a easy-to-use web interface for laboratory staff, constantly monitoring the refrigerators in the equipment and bacteriology area, in addition to the culture oven where the "seeded" samples are placed, for their respective analysis and performance of antibiogram. Additionally, a constant observation was maintained on the presence of gas in the bacteriology area due to the continuous use of Bunsen burners, which work on the basis of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which are used for the sterilization of handles and other materials used for the “seeding/culture” of bacteria. The entire system has alarms in the respective areas, also an alert via messaging through the Telegram platform, allowing constant monitoring by health professionals in the clinical laboratory. This system provides the Muñoz Clinical Laboratory with a low-cost way to reduce the risk of damage in samples and/or reagents used in the equipment, due to their fragility and considering the stability of the samples according to the laboratory examination needed to perform; in addition to this, trying to ensure an optimal environment for the growth of bacteria, by monitoring the culture oven, the temperature can be manually corrected and, in this way, increase the life time of the bacteria (in case of presence), for its proper growth and relate it directly to a good diagnostic by the laboratory.
