This research project has been carried out in order to respond to the need of the CIDFAE to efficiently monitor the borders of Ecuador, due to the lack of advanced equipment such as thermal cameras installed in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), which monitor and control criminal acts such as smuggling that occur 24 hours a day and that at night it is more difficult to use tools such as cameras to capture images. That is why a video surveillance system is applied which consists of the use of a fixed wing UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicle) in which a thermal camera is installed to obtain images that are captured by the heat emitted by the body. The prototype gives us the possibility of transmitting data at 5 km, giving the facility to install a repeater in the event that transmission requires a greater range. In the development of the system that is applied in the project, calculations have been made for the selection of equipment for the correct operation of the air unit, which are motors, servomotors and thermal camera, subsequently, the acquisition of said equipment has been made to finally adapt them and configure them to the UAV. Finally, the data transmission and reception equipment has been programmed and configured for correct operation. The final result of the project was determined that the VDC7 system has been used for the transmission of data and video from a UAV to the control center, this system has been optimal because if it is required to extend the transmission distance, it can be used as repeaters .
