    Caring for older adults year after year represents large investments for their assistance due to the degenerative process that prevents them from leading a full life or performing simple daily tasks. The need to have people in charge of their care also implies applying technologies that help them assist in risk events. This project develops and implements a home automation system based on IoT for the Comprehensive Center for the Elderly (CIAM) of the city of Ambato, which under the guidelines of the staff together with the author's skills, manage to determine specific requirements for the center. The design and construction of IoT devices for the monitoring of variables related to their environment and the control of the facilities, is complemented by a server in the cloud whose resources are directed to provide communication through the MQTT protocol. Automatic control is also integrated into its configuration to provide adequate environmental conditions for older adults, in the face of temperature values not indicated for their daily lives. Through a user interface developed in Node Red, the staff has the technology that supports the assistance of older adults, as well as the Notifications that the system generates when recognizing changes in the measured variables. Speech recognition is added to the system for device control using Raspberry PI. Forming a system capable of providing communication between devices and generating automatic notifications through mobile messaging services.
