(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2022-09-01) Bonilla Aldas, Angelly Paulina; Gaibor Gonzalez, Ismael Alvaro, Psc Mst.
Stress is a growing health problem, the present study aimed to identify the relationship between the level of academic stress and the level of self-esteem in adolescents from the San José Tax Commission Educational Unit, in the province of Napo, city of Tena. An investigation of quantitative approach, cross-sectional, non- experimental and correlational design was proposed. We worked with 135 third-year high school students, 50 men and 85 women with an age range between 17 and 19 years. The Cognoscitivist Systemic Inventory for the study of Academic Stress Second version of 21 items (SISCO SV-21) and the Rosenberg Self-esteem scale were used. The results indicated that the majority of students, that is, 59.3%, present severe levels of academic stress and 48.9% high self-esteem. Likewise, it was determined that gender was associated with stress, but not with self-esteem. The proposed hypothesis was rejected, since no relationship was found between academic stress and self-esteem (Rho= -0.027 p>0.05).
