The main goal of this project was to demonstrate the relationship between body image and irrational beliefs in user’s gym. It was applied to 124 participants, of which, through exclusion criteria, the population was reduced to 103 users. The Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) was used to evaluate body image, which measures concern about body image; while, the Irrational Beliefs Questionnaire (TCI) was used to evaluate irrational beliefs. The analysis of these variables was performed through the Sperm's Rho test, we worked with the level of concern for body image (CI) and the dimensions and/or factors of the TCI, being able to observe that there is no significant correlation between the variables (with r= .246 F1; r= .215 F2; r= .252 F7), which suggests that, if the frequency of worry about HF increases, the ideas belonging to irrational beliefs such as: Need for Approval, High self-expectations and Helplessness in the face of change, increase. There is an inverse proportional correlation between the body image concern variable and factor 7 (Problem avoidance), / with r= -, 196, which indicates that as the frequency of concern decreases, the ideas belonging to the irrational belief of Avoidance of problems increases or vice versa. Moreover, it was also found that the relationship between the variable of body image concern and the age range has a frequency of 41, 7% lower than the expected of .58, that means the variable is independent of ageItem Autoestima y su relación con la dismorfia muscular en usuarios de un gimnasio(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2022-09-01) Guarnizo Mejía, Jénnifer Monserrath; García Ramos, Diana Carolina, Psc. Cl. Mg.The main goal of this project was to determine the relationship between self esteem’s levels and muscle dysmorphia’s risk in gym users. This was a quantitative investigation because 97 gym users were selected with exclusion and inclusion criteria. Also, the data was collected through the application of standardized psychometric instruments: Rosenberg Self Steem Scale and Muscle Appearance Satisfaction Scale. In order to verify the hypothesis, an statistical analysis was done, the data didn’t fulfill the normality criteria so it was necessary to apply rho Spearman nonparametric test. After that, the data was analyzed and the conclusion that there isn’t any correlation between self-esteem’s levels and muscle dysmorphia’s risk came up. Furthermore, it was found that a high level of self-esteem prevails in gym users. Also, more than the half of the users are on risk of muscle dysmorphia. Finally, men are the ones that have a higher risk of muscle dysmorphia than womenItem “Análisis del entrenamiento fitness en los gimnasios de la ciudad de Ambato”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Terapia Física, 2020-02-01) Fonseca Mejía, Paúl Mauricio; Cobo Sevilla, Verónica de los Ángeles Lcda MSc.The purpose of this research was to analyze fitness training and its results, which has been of great interest, both for gym users, as well as for their owners, managers and trainers in the planning and proper execution of physical training. The investigation of qualitative and quantitative approach, due to the descriptive and numerical data affected with the application of the Evaluation Sheet prepared and test used, is longitudinal, taking data before and after the intervention where information was collected: sociodemographic, history pathological, and fitness, in three gyms selected from the city of Ambato, where in turn five users are selected from each of these receivers. With a total of fifteen participants, it was concluded that the correct planning and application of fitness training reflects better physical, aesthetic and functional results in the users of these training devices.
