(2025-03-06) Rojano García, Pamela Lissette; Altamirano López, Lorena Fernanda; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica
In the midst of the complex emotional situation of our current society, which represents significant challenges for the state, society in general and the public health system, it has become evident that there is a prevalence between impulsivity and suicidal ideation, especially affecting young people in academic environments. Impulsivity can lead to risky decisions or destructive behaviors, while suicidal ideation reflects a deep emotional distress considering the possibilities of ending one's life. In order to reach an accurate conclusion of this study, a sample of 196 male and female students between 18 and 28 years of age was used. The objectives of this research were to study the relationship between impulsivity and suicidal ideation in university students of a university in the city of Ambato, province of Tungurahua, to evaluate both variables according to gender, through a quantitative, non-experimental cross-sectional study. The instruments used were Barratt's Impulsivity Scale and Beck's Suicidal Ideation Scale. The results showed a very low positive correlation between impulsivity and suicidal ideation, moderate impulsivity is observed to prevail in this population with 79.1%, as well as mild suicidal ideation with 32.7%, and no significant differences were found in terms of gender.

CALIDAD DE SUEÑO E IMPULSIVIDAD EN ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS
(2025-03-06) Narvaez Peralta, Neisser Joel; Velasteguí Hernández, Diana Catalina; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica
This study explores the relationship between sleep quality, understood as a construct that encompasses both quantitative (duration and continuity of sleep) and qualitative (perception of rest and well-being) aspects, and impulsivity, defined as the tendency to act without prior reflection, which can lead to negative consequences in decision making and emotional control. The findings revealed that a large majority of participants (78.5%) experience poor sleep quality, associated with factors such as academic stress, irregular rest habits and high workloads. While in the impulsivity variable, 21.5% of the students showed significant differences were observed, with similar scores between men and women. For this research, the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index ( PSQI) and the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11) were used, assessing different dimensions of sleep and types of impulsivity, such as motor and unplanned. The results suggest that, although poor sleep quality is common in this population, its direct relationship with impulsivity could depend on individual and contextual factors, beyond gender.

IMPULSIVIDAD Y CONDUCTAS ALIMENTARIAS DE RIESGO EN ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS
(2025-03-05) Ortiz Ortiz, María Fernanda; Vásquez de la Bandera Cabezas, Fabricio Alejandro; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica
Impulsivity is defined as a sudden action without any previous analysis or reasoning, which can trigger problems for the individual; on the other hand, risky eating behaviors are inadequate behaviors related to food such as: restrictive diets, self-induced vomiting, use of laxatives and diuretics, etc. The aim of the present investigation was to determine the relationship between impulsivity and risky eating behaviors in university students aged 18-29 years, with a sample of 164 participants. The study was quantitative, using the Barrat Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11) and the Brief Questionnaire on Risky Eating Behaviors (CBCAR). It also had a non-experimental design of correlational scope, for which, after the application of the normality test, when data with a normal distribution were not obtained, the nonparametric Spearman's Rho test was applied. Finally, the results showed that there is a low positive correlation between the study variables, so that, weakly, the greater the impulsivity, the greater the presence of risky eating behaviors in the participants. In particular, with regard to impulsivity, an average of 51.5 was found with no significant differences according to sex; and, with respect to risky eating behaviors, 63.4% did not present any risk, 20.1% showed moderate risk and 20.1% showed moderate risk and 16.5% a high risk, without showing a significant association with sex, i.e., CAR levels do not depend on being male or female.

Cl. Mg.
Adolescence is a stage characterized by physical, psychological and social changes that mark the transition to adulthood, which demand internal resources such as tolerance to frustration whose absence would facilitate the presence of impulsivity as to react quickly and unpredictably, being necessary the development of a study that explains the relationship between these variables. To determine the relationship between tolerance to frustration and impulsivity. The methodology is quantitative, non-experimental, with a cross-sectional, correlational scope. Questionnaires were used; the Frustration Tolerance Scale (ETF) and the Barrat Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11) in adolescents aged 12 to 17 years in the city of Latacunga-Ecuador. An inverse correlation (-0.451 p< .001) was found between frustration tolerance and impulsivity, and a statistically significant difference (-5.16(325); p< .001), with males having a higher frustration tolerance. In addition, low scores in impulsivity were observed with the prevalence of motor impulsivity. Tolerance to frustration and impulsivity are negatively related, that is, if there is greater tolerance to frustration adolescents present lower impulsivit

Impulsivity is the inhibition of performing a behavior and anxiety is defined as a state of concern, anguish, etc., that is generated by a stimulus. These terms are important to study in health personnel, they got affected by different situations so they have been developed. Therefore, it is intended to identify the relationship between the types of impulsivity with anxiety levels in health personnel. This investigation is quantitative, correlational, non-experimental, transversal, documentary, bibliographic field. It consists of 122 participants, 47 men and 75 women. The Beck Anxiety Inventory and the Barratt Impulsivity Scale BIS-11 were applied. The results demonstrated a statistically positive correlation between the types of cognitive, motor and unplanned impulsivity with anxiety levels. It was found that 91.80% present cognitive impulsivity, 41.80% motor impulsivity and 71.30% unplanned impulsivity. In the levels of anxiety, it was found that 29.5% present minimal and moderate anxiety, 22.1% mild anxiety and 18.9% severe anxiety. In relation to gender, it was evidenced that men had a higher score in motor impulsivity and women in cognitive and unplanned impulsivity.

Cl. Mg.
The current project was carried out to determine the relationship between impulsivity and social skills with socio-demographic factors in university students. In the case of impulsivity, the “Escala de Control de los Impulsos de Ramón y Cajal” is used, and for social skills, the “Escala de Habilidades Sociales (EHS)” is used in a population of 844 university students. The applied methodology was based on a quantitative approach, since the information extracted through the scales was compared using Spearman's rho, to obtain the corresponding correlation. It was found that the factors proposed in the scale, impulsivity, immediacy, and risk are related to social skills with the exception of the imposition factor. In addition, impulsivity is related to the university, practice a religion, a history of mental illness, and the frequency of alcohol consumption, while social skills are related to university, socioeconomic level, number of children, and frequency of consumption
