Carrera Economía, 2016-09) Barrera Rodríguez, Cinthya Daniela; DT - Álvarez Jiménez, Elsy MarcelaThis research project aims to determinate whether gender affects in the cause of unemployment in the PYMES of the service sector in Ambato at 2015. The methodology that was used for the development work is bibliographic and at field. Correlational and explanatory level were used because of the quantitative qualitative approach. To determine the incidence of gender discrimination in unemployment several unemployed who have applied for a place of work in the service sector were surveyed, and the coefficient of Mann Whitney in which the gender variable was crossed with the possible causes of unemployment because of the nonparametric data and the independent samples. It was concluded that the reasons why a person is unemployed relate directly to the gender. On the one hand, the main cause for women is discrimination, while for men it is the low demand for labor in the service sector. This shows that the paradigm of assigning tasks according to gender and discrimination remains to shelve the capabilities and skills of people. This research will help us understand the main causes of unemployment by gender and help to implement mechanisms to achieve a more equitable labor demand in the services sector.
