    The social and economic development of a town, from a large city to a small parish, is directly related to the issue of roads, because roads are one of the main infrastructures with great relevance for society, since they help the communication from one point to another, facilitating economic and social commercial activities, and thus influencing the quality of life of the population, which is why road maintenance management is of great importance. For the elaboration of the road inventory, the evaluation of the state of the roads of the parish of November 11 was carried out, through field visits, data collection through matrices: such as the state of the wearing course, width track and major and minor works of art; counting of vehicles with the determination of Annual Average Daily Traffic for the projection of the roads to 20 years and finally the management of said information in a Geographic Information System (GIS), with this the planning that the Provincial Decentralized Autonomous Government of Cotopaxi prepares annually for the roads that are within its jurisdiction, complementing the management of resources and presenting an alternative to improve the execution of road inventories.

    Plan de conservación para la estructura del pavimento de la vía Aláquez – Mulaló en el tramo de la abscisa 4+970 hasta 9+940 de la provincia de Cotopaxi

    To prepare the technical project, a topographic survey was carried out and a representation close to reality was obtained, a road inventory was also made, in which the characteristics of the road, length, width, also the presence of sidewalks, ditches, , sewer pits and adjacent streets. A manual count of the vehicle capacity was carried out with which the Annual Average Daily Traffic (ADT) was determined, which established that it is classified as a class II collector road Through the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, it was possible to evaluate the current state of its structure, through this method the existing faults in the pavement as well as their severity were determined, with the results obtained from the Aláquez - Mulaló road. It is in very good condition so routine maintenance is necessary. Soil samples were extracted along the road, at every kilometer to be taken to the laboratory and to be able to carry out the corresponding tests such as granulometry, Atterberg limits, compaction and California Support Index (CBR) test. With the results obtained in the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, it was determined that routine maintenance should be carried out in order to extend the useful life of the road.

    Implementación del proceso de conservación de la estructura de la capa de rodadura de la vía manzana de oro – Montalvo en el tramo km 0+000 al km 2+400 de la provincia de Tungurahua

    This project aims to implement the process of conservation of the structure of the rolling layer of the road Manzana de Oro - Montalvo in the section k 0 + 000 to k 2 + 400 of the province of Tungurahua, in this way Develop a road maintenance plan. In order to proceed with the design of the project, a field and laboratory investigation was carried out, as well as the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Standards (AASHTO or American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), the American Materials Testing Association (ASTMo in English). Society of Testing Materials), National Institute of Normalization (INEN), Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP), Bibliographic Research, in the project several activities were carried out, such as the lifting of the existing road with a precision equipment, in each kilometer a pit was made to be able to extract altered soil samples to perform soil tests in the laboratory, the evaluation of the pavement condition index that is a visual evaluation where we identify the localized damages and in turn the severity of this , taking an average number of samples, and the test of Def pavement readometry with the Benkelman beam. After comparing the two methods mentioned above (PCI and Benkelman Beam), the reinforcement of the pavement structure will be carried out on the Via de Oro - Montalvo road in the section of the abscissa k 0 + 000 to the abscissa k 2 + 400 from the province of Tungurahua. This reinforcement has a referential budget of 445,231.65 USD.

    Modelo para realizar el inventario de vías en la provincia de Tungurahua, aplicando el programa ARCGIS 8.3

    La recolección de criterios para la elaboración de levantamientos de campo de vías utilizados por los países como Ecuador, Costa Rica, Perú, Colombia, España y otros, ha permitido obtener dos formularios básicos que integran gran parte de estos criterios y cuyo fin es conseguir que se ejecuten de la mejor manera Inventarios Viales en la Provincia de Tungurahua. Como ejemplo de aplicación, se ha realizado el inventario vial del Cantón Ambato específicamente de las parroquias Cunchibamba, Unamuncho, Atahualpa, Izamba, Augusto N. Martínez y Constantino Fernández, los mismos que poseen una red vial densa y variada en cuanto a tipo de superficie de rodadura se refiere. Con esto se ha logrado plantear un modelo que puede ser aplicado al resto de las vías de la Provincia de Tungurahua, excepto a las vías urbanas de los cantones. En el trabajo realizado, todos los registros de campo de las vías inventariadas han sido ingresadas al Sistema de Información Geográfica Arc GIS 8.3 manejando para ello los módulos de ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox y ArcMap, logrado obtener mapas temáticos que asocian a la base de datos gráfica con la base de datos tabular, permitiendo conocer de una manera fácil y adecuada las características básicas y el estado actual de las vías.
