(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Aguilar Salazar, David Salomón; Aldás Sánchez, Milton Rodrigo
An analysis of the current situation of the Vía Cunchibamba – San Andrés was carried out due to its intense commercial and tourist activity, which has caused a notable deterioration in its surface. Given this circumstance, it will be deemed necessary to examine the deficiencies and condition of the road, identifying the most worn areas and critical problems, in order to propose a maintenance plan that guarantees safe and comfortable circulation. A research process was initiated to carry out a georeferenced topographic survey, collecting 550 points. Then, a vehicle count was carried out for 12 continuous hours over 7 consecutive days, determining the projected TPDA and TPDAf for 20 years, considering the road as a Class II Collector. Next, the soil was studied using granulometry tests and Atterberg limits, making pits of one cubic meter for each kilometer and in the initial Abscissa, the California Support test, obtaining an average of 20.43 percent, classifying it as a subgrade quality from Fair to Good and Excellent. In addition, a deflection analysis was carried out in the rolling layer using the Benkelman Beam, showing type I deflections. Finally, the Pavement Condition Index method was used, identifying existing faults on the road to carry out the respective maintenance plan and a reference budget for conservation so that the road can be in an optimal state for its use.

The objective of this study is to preserve the road infrastructure of the Hawai and Alaska roads in the Huachi Grande parish. The need for this project arises due to the accelerated wear of these roads, caused by the constant traffic of heavy vehicles and the significant flow of vehicles towards the nearby parish, this is detrimental to the inhabitants of the sector in terms of health, economy and production. To evaluate the state of the pavement, the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method and deflection measurements using the Benkelman beam were used. On the Hawai road, despite an average PCI of 64, indicating a good condition, a characteristic deflection was observed that exceeds the critical deflection. This suggests possible structural deficiencies, so a total reconstruction was proposed on this road. On the other hand, on the Alaska road, the section proposed for periodic maintenance presents an average PCI of 72, indicating a very good condition and good structural behavior. However, in the second section, where rehabilitation is proposed, the average PCI is 41, indicating a regular condition. This maintenance plan will provide a basis for the parish GAD to manage and plan more effective road maintenance on these roads. With a referential budget of $439,544.46 US dollars, the project will contribute to improving the mobility, accessibility, and connectivity of the Hawai and Alaska roads, promoting the economic, social, and environmental development of the área.

The road that connects the intersection of E491 with Guayaquil Street to the San Pablo sector, in the Santa Rosa parish, Ambato, presents significant deterioration that affects road safety and the fluidity of traffic. To address this problem, a comprehensive road maintenance and conservation plan has been developed that considers a vehicular traffic study, a surface and structural evaluation of the pavement, the design of an appropriate pavement structure and the estimation of a reference budget. The vehicular traffic study determined a current TPDA of 3196 veh/day, with a projection of 5883 veh/day for the year 2044. The pavement evaluation revealed an average PCI of 48, indicating a fair condition. Based on these results, three types of necessary interventions were identified: milling in the first section, complete reconstruction in the second section and land clearing with removal of the vegetation layer in the third section. A pavement structure was designed with a thickness of 5 cm for the asphalt layer, 15 cm of granular base and 20 cm of granular subbase, complying with AASHTO 93 regulations and considering the projected traffic. The total budget for the implementation of the maintenance plan is $496,751.15. As a result, the implementation of the road maintenance and conservation plan will improve road conditions, increase user safety, and optimize road maintenance management by the Santa Rosa parish GAD.

As an alternative route to the Panamericana Norte that connects the province of Tungurahua and Cotopaxi, the Camino Real (North) route must provide security and serviceability to users. The purpose of this technical project is to study the behavior of the pavement structure and propose a road conservation process for the km 3+800 to km 7+600 section for which a digital model of the road was made with the help of a survey georeferenced using a GPS satellite receiver. The traffic study was carried out from a manual vehicle capacity carried out 12 hours a day for seven days, the average annual and future daily traffic was calculated, classifying the road as a "Collector Road - Class I" according to the MTOP. To catalog the current state of the pavement, the PCI methodology was used, evaluating the pavement condition as "Bad". Moreover, a study of the asphalt folder was carried out, determining the deflections of the pavement by the Benkelman Beam test and the percentage of asphalt present in the asphalt mixture of the track. To complement these studies, laboratory tests were performed on the subgrade material of the pathway, including granulometric analysis, Atterberg limits, modified Proctor Type B, and CBR, concluding that the predominant material in the path is classified as "Silty sand" quality that varies between "Bad" and "Regular - Good". Finally, considering the results of each study, a road conservation plan is proposed

The present titling work is focused on proposing a conservation plan for the pavement structure of the La Tebaida - Chipoalo road. A topographic reconnaissance was carried out of the road using a total station, then a manual count of the vehicle volume was effected, with these data, the TPDA was obtained, classifying it as a highway. Soil samples were taken for each kilometer of road for the granulometry tests, Atterberg limits, Proctor modified type B and the California bearing radio (CBR), trials conducted on the FICM laboratories The Pavement Condition Index (ICP) method was used to determine the condition of the current pavement, and visual inspections examined the surface deterioration of the track. With the Benkelman beam test, deflections of the asphalt were determined to evaluate a complete and functional form of the pathway under study. Analyzed the results obtained on the basis of the established standards, It follows that the Chipoalo - Tebaida track is experiencing deterioration problems along the tread layer, so more superficial interventions are required in order to guarantee the service life and in the same way to protect the integrity of the conductors and pedestrians that circulate on the track.
