Item Evaluación nutricional y cinética de digestión ruminal de hojas y raquis de plátano hartón (musa AAB simmonds)(2024-08) Ruiz Ganchozo, Alvaro Eduardo; Quinteros Pozo, Orlando RobertoThe use of muse harvest byproducts becomes a viable alternative for feeding ruminants due to year-round availability, as well as nutrient content.Item Efecto de la superovulación sobre la cinética folicular en ovejas de raza Katahdin y Criollas de Ecuador(2021-03) Correa Salgado, Esteban Nicolás; Aragadvay Yungán, GonzaloThe objective of this study was to evaluate the follicular kinetics in Katahdin and Criolla sheep from Ecuador subjected to a multiple ovulation and embryo transfer protocol (MOET), through the use of intravaginal progesterone devices and intramuscular application in decreasing doses of exogenous follicle stimulant hormone (FSH). The progesterone devices caused a regression phenomenon on the follicles present in the ovaries before starting the treatment. In order to start with the superovulation protocol, the animals with follicles between 2 and 3 mm were selected. The devices acted similar to a corpus luteum; FSH enhanced the growth of several follicles from the first application in all animals until the end of the treatment. Follicular dynamics was evaluated by daily transrectal ultrasonography, with the help of a linear transducer adapted so that its manipulation can be carried out from outside the animal. On the day that the animals were in heat and after mating, blood samples were taken to evaluate blood estrogen levels, and the presence of cells corresponding to estrus was evaluated by vaginal cytology, this before mating to avoid contamination of the samples. The results were subjected to a statistical analysis called T-student. The comparison of means was performed using the TUKEY significance test with a probability of experimental error of 0.05%. Statistically, the follicular size showed significant differences between both breeds, being higher in the Katahdin breed, these animals also had a higher number of follicles, and the heat was more manifest and lasting in the sheep of this breed. Estrogen levels and the percentage of surface cells were high for both racial groups, corresponding to the presentation of heat.Item Cinética de degradación ruminal y producción de gas in vitro del rastrojo de Amaranthus cruentus en bovinos(2016) Oña Rodríguez, José Daniel; Rodríguez Barros, Marcos AntonioThe aim of this research was to evaluate the ruminal degradation kinetics of dry matter, apparent digestibility of dry matter, in vitro rumen protozoa and in vitro gas production in cattle. A bull provided with a cannula in the rumen (ruminal degradation and rumen fluid donation) was used. It was evaluated; ruminal degradation of dry matter, in vitro digestibility of dry matter, in vitro gas production and population in vitro rumen protozoa. Treatments: T1: 100% amaranth stubble, T2: kikuyo 100%, T3: stubble amaranth 25% + Kikuyo 75%, T4: amaranth stubble 50% + Kikuyo 50%. Digestibility and in vitro gas production was higher and lower respectively, only treatments with amaranth (T1), only kikuyu (T2) and in proportions of 50:50 of kikuyo and amaranth (T4). The population of rumen protozoa in vitro from hour 0 to 12 showed no differences (P> 0.05) between treatments in both stocks Entodiniomorfos and Holotrichs. From of hour 24 to 48 the holotrichs protozoa showed the differences between treatments (P <0.05). The soluble fraction (A) shows differences (P <0.05) between treatments. The insoluble but potentially degradable fraction shows differences (P <0.05) between treatments and T1 showed higher (0.054% / h: P <0.05) percentage degradation rate per hour (c) that other treatments. It is concluded that the use of diets with unconventional foods such as Amaranthus cruentus helps reduce the amount of protozoa and thus the production of greenhouse gases.
