The objective of this research is to develop a model for the redistribution of facilities, considering production and biosafety factors for the company CM Original. In which two mathematical models are developed oriented to a distribution in manufacturing cells, finding the appropriate product family, minimizing production and material handling costs, and determining the labor and machinery requirements. The research project begins with the identification of the current situation of the company in terms of processes, machines, products, times, and costs. The following stages consist of determining the most representative products, selection of the type of plant layout, construction of the mathematical models, elaboration of the proposal and simulation in FlexSim. The appropriate distribution must ensure social distancing, respond to the characteristics of the production, generate an improvement value and be feasible, resulting in a distribution by manufacturing cells. The construction of the mathematical model is based on the plant layout to be obtained, so Model 1 considers information regarding machines and products of the case study and establishes the use of two cells where each cell is assigned products that have the same manufacturing process, either bagging or side sewing. The efficiency in the grouping is 82.5%. While model 2 obtains a manufacturing and material handling cost in two scenarios: using a family of products with the current distribution and a proposal based on manufacturing cells, using the allocation of machines and products obtained in model 1, the manufacturing cost does not vary because the quantity to be produced is the same, however, the material handling cost is reduced by 35.10% with the proposed distribution.
