    EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Global industrialization has increased the potential for major industrial accidents, since the industrial companies have increased significantly the production levels and the way of storing hazardous substances resulting in emergencies, in which workers’ lives and the enterprise material resources are in danger and business continuity is affected. This research was carried out using exploratory study with the validation of the problem of fires through an analysis of the hazards resulting in fires and the analysis of the prevention and control variables. The preliminary analysis of risks and the fire assessment according to the inherent risk of industrial facilities and the analysis of the regulations to prevent fires were used as methods. The results showed that the company has a medium level of major risks. The main causes of fires are the accumulation of flammable material near welding and temperature areas and the electrical failures, in which there is a medium level of inherent risk. Therefore, it is recommended to observe precautions based on regulations. The proposal was based upon the design of fire detection, alarm, control systems in accordance with the specifications of fire regulations. Besides, industrial operations protocols were also determined in case of fires.
