Item Parasitosis intestinal y su relación con anemia y desnutrición en niños de 5 a 9 años de la parroquia Pasa del cantón Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Laboratorio Clínico, 2023-03-21) Acosta Guamán, Julio Alejandro; Pacha Jara, Ana GabrielaParasites are now a global problem due to the evolution of species as parasites are forced to adapt to the host to fulfill their life cycle, complicating their control and elimination, another factor for intestinal infections is the lack of knowledge in health education and food hygiene of the population. The objective of the present research is to show the relationship of intestinal parasitosis with anemia and malnutrition in children from 5 to 9 years of the Parish Pass of the Ambato Canton. The study consisted of 103 children, where a stool sample was requested to apply a direct examination and the Faust technique, in addition to a blood sample to determine hemoglobin levels. Additionally, a survey was structured to identify sociodemographic factors, knowledge and prevention against parasites. In the results, 49.5% of the population were parasitized and the remaining 50.5% had no intestinal parasites, with monoparasitosis (38%) predominating over polyparasitosis (13%) and chromists/protozoa predominating over helminths, with a predominance of (54% / 1.5%). The main species found were: Blastocystis sp. 42.20%, Entamoeba coli 37.5%, Endolimax nana 17.20%, Giardia lamblia 1.5% and Hymenolepis nana 1,5%. It is concluded that the presence of parasites was in the majority of children with normal levels of hemoglobin and BMI, in addition the prevalence of Blastocystis sp is considered. associated with gastrointestinal complications; it is important to study this enigmatic microorganism whose role remains controversial to this day
