(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2023-09-29) Salazar Llerena, Lissette Dayana; Cantuñi Carpio, Verónica Del Pilar
Education about sexually transmitted diseases can be an effective primary prevention strategy against HPV infection and cervical cancer. Objective: to analyse risk behaviours and levels of knowledge about human papillomavirus among seventh-grade students. Methods: the study used a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational, non-experimental, descriptive design to examine the relationship between risk behaviours and knowledge of human papillomavirus (HPV). Results: Male participants reported less knowledge and experience of HPV. Second, knowledge level was an important predictor of risk, with participants answering less than half of the HPV knowledge questions correctly. Conclusions: the results provide a potential knowledge base for future research on sexually vulnerable populations and represent a significant contribution to the nursing profession: despite knowledge of HPV and awareness of condom use as a preventive measure, university students continue to engage in risky sexual behaviour.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2023-06-08) Chipantiza Condo, Jessenia de los Angeles; Jiménez Hurtado, William Andrés
Adolescence is a difficult stage of development, both for the adolescent and for those with whom he lives; because they are individuals who are in the transition between childhood and adulthood, who seek identification and want to be part of groups with common interests. In this period they feel rejections that can eventually lead them to adopt habits that endanger their well-being, and even their lives. An observational epidemiological study of a cross-sectional descriptive nature was carried out in which the Depression Inventory and the Beck Suicidal Ideation Scale were applied to 208 university students between 18 and 22 years of age, students in the first and second semester of the Nursing career. in the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Technical University of Ambato, with the purpose of detecting the inclination to risk behaviors to propose interventions that allow reducing the influential factors and preventing them in said population. The results show that although the respondents are highly depressed, they did not show suicidal intentions; which led to propose some actions with the intention of knowing the dangers in time and anticipating future events to avoid them.
