Item ESTRATEGIAS DE APRENDIZAJE Y RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO EN LOS ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(2025-06-18) Campos Nuñez, Jessenia Lizbeth; Sara Verónica Guadalupe Nuñez; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaThe relationship between learning strategies and academic performance in nursing students underscores the importance of developing motivational and cognitive skills to complete the educational process. Objective: To analyze how learning strategies influence the academic performance of nursing students. The research focuses on identifying the motivational, cognitive, and contextual skills that impact the learning process. Methods: A quantitative approach was employed, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design using surveys as the main technique. The University Students’ Learning Strategies Assessment Questionnaire (CEVEAPEU), consisting of 49 dichotomic type questions, was administered to a sample of 110 students. The reliability of the instrument was high, with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.91. Results: It was revealed that 89% of students feel capable of selecting relevant information for their studies, although 22% face challenges in using bibliographic resources. However, only 11% are able to recognize essential documents in online searches, indicating a problem in managing digital information overload. Conclusion: Although most students exhibit confidence in their learning ability, there is an urgent need to improve their skills in identifying reliable online sources. This suggests that training programs should be implemented to strengthen these competencies, fostering more autonomous and well-founded learning in an increasingly digital academic environment.Item CONDUCTAS DE AUTOCUIDADO Y EL ESTRÉS ACADÉMICO EN ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(2025-06-17) Tubón Lagua Mary Carmen; Guadalupe Nuñez Veronica Guadalupe; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaIntroduction: Self-care behaviors and academic stress are crucial aspects in the training of nursing students. Self-care, defined as deliberate actions to maintain health and well-being, is essential for future health professionals. Academic stress can significantly affect students' performance and well-being. Objective: To analyze the relationship between self-care behaviors and academic stress in nursing students from the Technical University of Ambato, Ecuador. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive and correlational study was conducted, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The Scale to EstimateSelf-Care Capabilities (EECAC) and the SISCO SV Academic Stress Inventory were used in a sample of 71 seventh semester students. Results: 67.6% of the students presented a medium self-care capacity and32.4% a high capacity. Regarding academic stress, 84.6% showed moderate levels and 11.3% high levels, with notable differences between genders. A complex relationship between self-care and stress was observed, where even students with high self-care capacity can experience elevated levels of stress. Conclusion: Although self-care practices are important, they are not sufficient on their own to prevent highacademic stress in nursing students. The need to implement multifactorial and gender-sensitive interventions to address academic stress and promote self-care in this population is underlined.Item USO DE LA MECÁNICA CORPORAL PARA DISMINUIR LESIONES EN LOS ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(2025-06-16) Chicaiza Izurieta, Esteban Wladimir; Martínez García, Diana Nancy; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaIntroduction: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) represent a significant problem for nursing students and professionals, with a prevalence ranging from 46% to 97%. These disorders not only affect the quality of life of individuals, but also negatively impact the efficiency and quality of patient care. The high prevalence of MSDs in students suggests that risk factors are present from the early stages of training. Objective: To analyze the available evidence on the use of body mechanics to prevent musculoskeletal injuries in nursing students. Methodology: An exhaustive search was carried out in databases such as PubMed, CINAHL and Google Scholar, selecting studies from the last 5 years to ensure the timeliness of the evidence. The review was carried out following the PRISMA guidelines, including the use of the flowchart to document the study selection process and the checklist to ensure a rigorous and transparent methodology. Results: The most affected anatomical regions are the lumbar area, neck and shoulders. Risk factors identified include female sex, older age, poor posture, and repetitive movements. Body mechanics-based interventions, including ergonomic education and specific exercise programs, showed promising results in reducing musculoskeletal symptoms. Discussion: A high prevalence of MSDs in nursing is revealed, mainly affecting the lower back, neck, and shoulders. Body mechanics interventions show preventive potential, although a holistic approach and early integration into training are needed. Conclusion: It is concluded that body mechanics programs have considerable potential to reduce the risk of MSDs in nursing students. The integration of these programs into nursing curricula and addressing the barriers to their implementation in clinical practice is recommended.Item ESTRÉS ACADÉMICO Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA AUTOESTIMA EN ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(2025-06-16) Arias Chiluisa Anderson Daniel; Guadalupe Núñez Sara Verónica; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de EnfermeríaIntroduction: Academic stress is a prevalent phenomenon in university students, especially in highly demanding careers such as nursing. Self-esteem can act as a protective factor against stress and promote academic performance. Objective: Relate the level of academic stress to self-esteem in nursing students. Methods: Quantitative, observational-cross-sectional and correlational study. Information was collected on a census basis from seventh-semester nursing students at the Technical University of Ambato, using the SISCO Inventory to evaluate academic stress and the Rosenberg SelfEsteem Scale to measure self-esteem. Data analysis was carried out with Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 29. Results: The majority of students (89.5%) presented a deep level of stress and 40.8% showed a high level of self-esteem. A significant correlation was found between academic stress and self-esteem (0.000 p< 0.05). Conclusion: The majority of participants presented a deep level of stress, and a considerable percentage presented high self-esteem. Furthermore, a significant correlation was found between academic stress and self-esteem, which allowed us to accept the researcher's alternative hypothesis, that is, academic stress has a significant correlation with self-esteem in nursing students at the Technical University of Ambato.Item AUTOCUIDADO BASADO EN EL MODELO DE DOROTHEA OREM EN ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2024-10-04) Real Segovia, Tatiana Michelle; Mejías de Duarte, MarianelaIntroduction: Self-care is the ability of the community, the family and the individual to take care of themselves through health promotion, disease prevention and the practice of healthy habits. Objective: Describe self-care based on the Dorothea Orem Model in Nursing students at an Ecuadorian public university. Methods: Quantitative, observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population was made up of 200 students legally enrolled in the Nursing program. Non-probabilistic sampling was used. The “Questionnaire on health self-care practices” was applied, consisting of 2 dimensions and 31 items, with Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.966. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: Of the total of 133 students surveyed in the sixth and seventh semester of the Nursing degree at the university investigated, 114 students (85.7%) presented a medium level of self-care capacity, 18 students (13.5%) had the ability to high self-care and 1 student (0.8%) low self-care capacity. Conclusions: The majority of students show a medium level of self-care capacity. Reflecting a solid foundation of skills and practices related to self-care among the student population. Nursing students must prioritize self-care as an integral part of their training, developing healthy habits that allow them to maintain a balance between academic demands and self-careItem RIESGO DE SUICIDIO POTENCIAL RELACIONADO CON SENTIMIENTOS DEPRESIVOS DE LOS ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2024-10-02) Martínez Arboleda, Maria Gabriela; Jiménez Hurtado, William AndrésAbstract The risk of suicide is the likelihood of carrying out a suicidal act, a serious issue that affects the mental health and well-being of individuals. To analyze the relationship between depressive feelings and the risk of suicide in nursing students. Method: The study used a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design, applying the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Suicidal Ideation Scale (SSI) to seventh-seme ster students. Data collection was carried out at the Technical University of Ambato, using non-probabilistic convenience sampling.Contingency tables reveal associations between suicidal ideation and key variables such as attitude towards life, suicidal thoughts, attem pt planning, and attempt execution. However, when analyzing the correlation between the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) score and the Suicidal Ideation Scale (SSI), a weak and non - significant negative correlation was found between the two variables. This suggests that, in this specific sample, there is no clear relationship between depression measured by the BDI and suicidal ideation measured by the SSI. In other words, there is no relationship between depressive feelings and the risk of suicide in nursing students.Item El MODELO DE DOROTHEA OREM APLICADO EN LA PRÁCTICA POR LOS INTERNOS ROTATIVOS DE ENFERMERÍA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2024-10-02) Solís Núñez, Yolanda Maricela; Fernández Nieto, Miriam IvonneIntroduction: Dorothea Orem's theory is one of the most researched and validated in nursing practice due to its broad vision of health care and the ability to structure nursing systems in relation to self-care needs. This frame of reference allows us to recognize the need to understand the concept of training of nursing students who are doing the rotating internship. Objective: Analyze the level of implementation and perception of the Dorothea Orem Model applied in practice by rotating nursing interns. Methods: A descriptive quantitative study was carried out on 60 rotating nursing interns from the Technical University of Ambato, during the period September 2023 - August 2024. Data collection was carried out through a multiple choice survey, designed and validated to assess the knowledge about Dorothea Orem's theory. Results: The interns demonstrated a high level of knowledge in the basic areas that support care, the basic principles that support care and the Nursing Care Process. However, opportunities for improvement were identified in ethical aspects, specific theoretical models, and the integration of theory with clinical practice. Conclusion: The rotating nursing interns have a solid base of knowledge about thefundamentals of care according to the Orem model, but it is necessary to strengthen the integration of theory with clinical practice and the development of competencies to provide humanized care based on evidence.Item AROMATERAPIA EN ESTUDIANTES DE ENFERMERÍA PARA REDUCIR EL ESTRÉS(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Enfermería, 2024-10-02) Tipan Cando, Johanna Alexandra; Pachucho Flores, Ana PamelaThe use of traditional and complementary medicine is the result of unifying two types of ancestral medicines, which covers part of the professional practices, one of them is aromatherapy, which is a complementary health therapy, using essential oils as the main therapeutic agents, can be applied through inhalation and massage.
