(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-02-24) Meneses Pérez, Leo Alejandro; Torres Carrillo, Silvia Susana
This study, carried out in the context of the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of Latacunga Canton (GADMCL), analyzes the role of the social worker in public management, emphasizing its impact on the planning, execution and sustainability of municipal projects, as well as on mediation and conflict resolution. Through interviews with Departmental Directors and social workers, it was identified that this professional acts as a key mediator between citizens and public institutions, ensuring that institutional responses are relevant and aligned with social needs. The qualitative analysis shows that social workers contribute significantly to the identification of social problems, the formulation of public policies and the implementation of community projects, highlighting their skills in communication, leadership and conflict resolution. In addition, their humanistic approach and personal values such as empathy, solidarity and professional ethics position them as strategic agents in the promotion of social inclusion and collective well-being. However, the study also reveals structural barriers, such as a lack of resources and institutional ignorance of their strategic role, which limit their impact on public management. Despite the limitations, social workers demonstrate adaptability and creativity in overcoming challenges, strengthening the community fabric and promoting the sustainability of municipal projects. Finally, it is concluded that strengthening the role of social workers in public management requires ongoing training programs, greater integration in strategic planning and the creation of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. These actions will ensure a greater impact of this professional in institutional management and in responding to citizen demands.

The present study analyzes the ethical perspective of social workers in the healthcare field regarding the approach to euthanasia in Ecuador, a complex and relevant issue following its recent decriminalization and the growing acceptance in some Latin American and European countries. The research was conducted using a qualitative and exploratory approach, aiming to understand perceptions, ethical dilemmas, and the role of social workers in this context. To achieve this, 18 social workers from the provinces of Chimborazo, Tungurahua, and Cotopaxi were interviewed, selected through convenience sampling. Semi-structured interviews were applied based on six key dimensions: values, ethical and moral dilemmas, dignity, euthanasia, social context, and the role of social work. The instrument was validated by expert judgment, and its analysis was carried out using a semantic network, allowing the systematization of experiences into a results matrix. The findings reveal tensions between religious, cultural, and professional values that influence the intervention of social workers. Although patient autonomy is recognized, personal and family beliefs condition ethical decisions. Many participants expressed internal conflicts between their individual convictions and their professional duty, reflecting the complexity of the issue. The study identified that professional intervention is mainly limited to emotional support and guidance for families, highlighting a lack of specific training in handling ethical dilemmas related to euthanasia. Social workers pointed out the need for specialized training and the creation of clear protocols to guide their actions in such cases. Additionally, the social and regulatory context was found to influence the perception and approach to euthanasia. In a country with strong religious and cultural influence, the legalization of euthanasia generates debates both in society and within professional practice. In conclusion, the study underscores the importance of strengthening ethical training and euthanasia-related education within Social Work, allowing for a more informed and balanced intervention that considers both patients’ rights and societal values.

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2024-08) Vizuete Amores, Noemi Enriqueta; Pino Loza, Eulalia Dolores
The Pastocalle parish, located in the province of Cotopaxi, faces a critical challenge of child malnutrition due to the combination of scarce economic resources, high levels of unemployment and a lack of sufficient support from local authorities. This problem has been documented through a survey conducted with 50 parents of families in the sector. Child malnutrition in Pastocalle is mainly attributed to the economic inability of families to access adequate and nutritious food on a regular basis. High unemployment exacerbates this situation, further limiting the income available to purchase nutritious foods essential for proper child development. Furthermore, the lack of effective support from local authorities has contributed to maintaining this problem without adequate attention and response. An additional finding revealed by the surveys is the incidence of parents under the age of 21, who face additional challenges due to their own youth and inexperience, affecting the family's ability to provide a nutritionally adequate environment for their children. To address this complex problem, a social intervention led by a trained social worker is proposed. The intervention strategies will be based on policies designed to improve child nutrition conditions and will be implemented in collaboration with local authorities. The strategic proposals include: The development of support groups that can partially mitigate this problem in children, creation of a breast milk bank for newborn infants, and above all, providing information so that the people of this community know or they may have an idea of this important and delicate issue such as malnutrition. It is essential that these policies are approved and supported by local authorities to ensure their effectiveness and long-term sustainability. Addressing child malnutrition in Pastocalle is not only crucial for the immediate well-being of the affected children, but also to ensure a healthy and prosperous future for the entire population

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2024-08) Alarcón Valverde, Andrea Cristina; Ortiz Díaz, Marcelo Iván
Social Responsibility (SR), although it is a topic that has been booming for some years in several countries, is relatively new in Ecuador. As a society, we must be aware of the importance of its correct application and demand that the services and products we receive maintain affinity with this conduct of respect towards the community. The implementation of SR in the business environment, specifically in the Decentralized Autonomous Governments, is a topic that, although it can become controversial, should not be forgotten. The exhaustive knowledge that this research aims to provide is what will lead us to achieve a community that trusts its authorities and that is willing to support their initiatives because there will be the certainty that their interests are being looked after. The objective of this study is to know the level of knowledge that exists on the subject among GADMA workers, to determine the influence that Social Work has in the application of Social Responsibility in this institution and to identify the type that is applied in the Municipality, so that based on this we can offer the best proposal to make Social Responsibility effective using the knowledge and skills of the Social Worker. With this purpose, we have used a quantitative methodological design, applying a questionnaire specifically designed for the collection of the data we need to support this work, this was applied to a group of workers from different departments and secretariats, in order to know in a generalized way the state in which the use of this commitment to society is. The conclusions obtained are based on the perceptions of the people surveyed on the management of the implementation of projects and services that have been provided in order to offer better conditions to the collaborators of this entity, about which there is little clarity, from the conceptual vacuum, the benefits or who are in charge of executing them. Finally, it is proposed the creation of a manual for the correct application of Social Responsibility in the municipalities, based on the knowledge and clarification of functions

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2023-09) Córdova Prado, Gina Lisbeth; Pino Loza, Eulalia Dolores
The research aims to analyze another paradigm regarding the intervention of Social Work, a paradigm that incorporates the resilience approach in the intervention of Social Work with unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents, which has been a subject little addressed. Based on this study with an entirely qualitative approach, an exploratory approach to the object of study is carried out through semi-structured interviews with 11 Social Work professionals who meet the following inclusion criteria; be active in the labor market in the Lago Agrio canton, belonging to the province of Sucumbíos, have expertise in cases involving unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents and have a Social Work title. The results show the Social Work professional, as the main reference for intervention with people in the context of human mobility, especially unaccompanied migrant children, and adolescents, to whom it provides support and advice in resolving their problems in the adaptation process. that they are going through. Strategies and tools that promote resilient processes in unaccompanied migrant children are incorporated into their professional practice. Likewise, there are marked differences in terms of the form of intervention carried out by professionals who work in State entities and those who work in non-governmental organizations. It concludes by highlighting the potential of the resilience approach for all professionals in social intervention, since it promotes the well-being, autonomy, and empowerment of the rights of its users, corresponding to the good practice used in each of the interventions in response. of the specific needs that unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents require. As a proposal to address a resilience approach in professional intervention in cases of unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents, we proceed to design an intervention protocol aimed at promoting resilient processes in this population, through individual, group and community activities.
