The focal group is constituted by 35 students of the first year of high school BGU "F", which is confirmed by 11 women and 24 men in an age range of 14 to 16 years old. Within this methodology, the methodology was carried out with a qualitative approach only, the technique applied was an unstructured interview which consists of 6 questions, three of positive nominations and three of negative nominations, these questions are of an educational, personal and social nature, while for the academic performance we have taken into account the qualitative grading scale, the same that we obtained from the educational institution. Among the important results, it is concluded that the sociometric status influences academic performance in such a way that it has an impact on the qualitative scale of students' learning, students who maintain a low school performance are socially excluded by their peers, without becoming interested in the reason and the reason for this problem, i.e. those who within the interview applied have received a greater number of negative or derogatory nominations for what is ignored or rejected, which has affected the integral development of adolescents and their future.Item Ausencia de los padres y el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes del sexto año de la Escuela de educación básica Centro Escolar Ecuador de la ciudad de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2018-06) Moreta Criollo, Diego Sócrates; Quiroga López, Karina MalenaThe family is of vital importance in the life of every human being and more in childhood, it is for this reason that the present work was carried out, "Absence of the parents and the academic performance of the students of the sixth year of the School of Education Basic School Ecuador of the city of Ambato "in order to strengthen and strengthe the bonds between parents and children. The low performance presented by students in the sixth year, is due to the absence and lack of interest of their parents, since most of them are dedicated to work. The low performance produces an emotional disorder, inferiority complexes, and feelings of disability, demotivation, sadness, and anguish among others. Currently, the household economy is deficient, especially if only parental income is expected, then, this is where the mother seeks to be another source of income for the household in order to meet the needs of the household, leaving the children in care of their grandparents or other family members, which negatively affects not only education but also the emotional part of the child. It should be remembered that the upbringing and education of children are the responsibility of the parents and not of any other family member, even if they are dedicated to work or are separated. It is for this reason that the social worker planned to perform the intervention of social work in the face of low academic performance of students in the sixth year of the School of Basic Education Centro Escolar Ecuador in the city of Ambato, which motivate and help students to improve their academic performance, in addition to maintaining a better relationship with their parents.
