Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2025-02) López Ortiz Ángel Eduardo; Cuji Rodríguez Julio EnriqueIn the present project, we analyze the coverage of the wireless internet system outside the faculties of the Huachi campus of the Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Internet connectivity has become an indispensable tool for academic, administrative and research activities. However, inconsistent coverage and low signal areas negatively affect the experience of the university community. A detailed diagnosis of the current network infrastructure was performed using tools such as heatmaps generated with Acrylic Wi-Fi Heatmaps and technical data analysis. The results identified deficiencies in coverage and connectivity, particularly in outdoor areas, due to factors such as channel interference and suboptimal location of access points. In addition, signal strength, latency, and speed levels at 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies were evaluated. Based on the analysis, an optimized wireless network model was proposed that includes the strategic relocation of access points, channel configuration adjustments, and the implementation of advanced devices with Wi-Fi 6 technologies. This model seeks to ensure uniform coverage, improve service quality, and optimize the user experience. This project concludes that a robust and well-designed infrastructure is crucial to meet the current and future connectivity needs of the university campus. Specific objectives include the analysis of available IoT architectures, the evaluation of AI algorithms for process redistribution, and the design of an optimized architecture. The analysis of IoT architectures revealed that technologies such as ESP-32 and communication protocols such as Heartbeat are crucial for scalability, energy efficiency, and handling large volumes of data. The integration of machine learning models, such as neural networks, improves decision making and real-time resource management. The choice of architecture must be aligned with the specific requirements of the application to ensure optimal and sustainable performance. Regarding AI algorithms, efficient solutions for resource management were identified, highlighting neural networks for their ability to balance load, reduce latency and minimize energy consumption. These algorithms enable dynamic adaptation to changing network conditions, improving the scalability and sustainability of IoT networks. The IoT sensor architecture design proved to be effective, achieving a balanced workload distribution and improving scalability. The proposal includes automatic recovery mechanisms and extensive testing to measure efficiency and monitor performance. In conclusion, the integration of AI in IoT networks provides a robust foundation for applications that require high efficiency and adaptability in dynamic environments.Item Asistente virtual de navegación y generación de rutas en espacios cerrados(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2023-03) Núñez Bonilla, Jonathan Daniel; Manzano Villafuerte, Víctor SantiagoTechnological progress and the internet of things have boosted the creation of intelligent buildings that meet the requirements of owners and managers, giving way to the collection of relevant information for the management of the place and improve the experience of visitors. One of the most attractive and at the same time challenging needs of buildings or enclosed spaces is the navigation in their interiors. To solve this demand, the use of technologies is necessary. At present there are several technologies for navigation of which stand out: UWB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth low energy (BLE), RFID and GPS. GPS systems in outdoor environments combined with stand-alone cell phones can achieve high accuracy. However, indoors and in environments with deep shadow effects, satellite and cellular signals are often disrupted, and positioning is problematic. This project presents an indoor navigation system solution based on mobile devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (Beacons) as an enabling technology and implemented in a mobile application that suggests the most optimal route to reach a certain location with the help of a virtual assistant. The mobile application called Rutas app is developed in the Flutter framework based on Dart programming language and is available for both visitors and administrators, which presents a dynamic map of the space with information on places of interest to users and a section of routes in which depending on the place you want to reach presents the optimal route to follow, this with the help of the built-in virtual assistant, which is activated by voice. Thus, addressing problems of misplacement and improving the experience of visiting the place, it also shows the administrators reports of the places with more recurrence and users who frequent the space, this information is relevant because from it you can act and implement strategies to better manage the place.Item Asistente virtual de telemedicina con dispositivo electrónico de medición de triaje para el diagnóstico médico de infecciones respiratorias utilizando inteligencia artificial(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2023-03) Villafuerte Lozada, Naythan Alexander; Manzano Villafuerte, Víctor SantiagoThe symptoms of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections are very similar, complicating the diagnosis of these diseases since they have common symptoms. For this reason, a virtual telemedicine assistant was implemented with electronic triage measuring device for medical diagnosis of respiratory infections using artificial intelligence, which provides personalized and timely care to each patient. The project was developed in collaboration with a health professional who provided guidelines for the measurement of vital signs, as well as the process of diagnosis of a patient. In the case of the electronic device, it has two ESP8266 microcontrollers that are responsible for measuring the heart rate, oxygen saturation in the blood and body temperature. This data is displayed by an Oled screen and sent to the Google Cloud server using the MQTT protocol. Inside the server is hosted the web application consisting of a login screen, which will verify if the user is registered. Once the user logs in, they will access to an interface where the measurements of the vital signs are shown in real time. After the review of the vital signs the user can enter to the screen of the virtual assistant (chatbot) that has natural language processing to simulate the consultation with a real doctor and interpret the symptoms entered by the user to be stored in the MySQL database. At the end of entering the symptomatology, the artificial intelligence algorithm starts with a precision of 0.91, which is responsible for determining whether the patient has covid19, common cold or allergic rhinitis, these three classes were suggested by the doctor. Finally, the user will move to an interface where the data of all the queries made to the chatbot is found. It is worth mentioning that the web application was developed using the Flask framework with the tools of HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL and Bootstrap 5, to make the application responsive, dynamic and robust, since it has security for both the user and the serverItem Construcción de un vehículo aéreo no tripulado (UAV) rotativo utilizando software libre para aplicaciones de monitorización de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2023-09) Culcay Orozco, Jehú David; Garzón Freire, David Josué; Salazar Logroño, Franklin WilfridoThe research work consists of building a Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) using open-source software for monitoring applications at the Technical University of Ambato. Starting from the analysis of requirements and general technical parameters for the design and construction of the UAV, as well as the requirements of the incorporated photogrammetry system as the main monitoring system. Schematics are developed with design dimension specifications for the main infrastructure. For the construction process, elements were acquired based on technical parameters that favor the application of monitoring systems and the dimensions of the UAV infrastructure. The diagrams of connections for the acquired elements are also presented. Additionally, it features a first-person video surveillance (FPV) system, which collects telemetry data such as speed, error notifications, altitude, and longitude, among others. These data contribute to the analysis of flight conditions and the UAV's status. Finally, operational tests and flight mission planning were carried out to provide flight autonomy to the UAV. These tests facilitate the functioning of the photogrammetry system for capturing images on the premises of the Technical University of Ambato. By using open-source software, the captured images can be analyzed, and a 3D model of the delimited area can be obtained.Item Detección de niveles de estrés en estudiantes universitarios a partir de señales electrofisiológicas mediante técnicas de machine learning(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2024-02) Pazmiño de la Cruz, Shirley Lizbeth; Córdova Córdova, Edgar PatricioAl iniciar sus estudios superiores, los jóvenes se ven sometidos a presiones académicas, expectativas sociales y múltiples responsabilidades, generando niveles elevados de estrés que inciden tanto en su rendimiento académico como en su salud mental y bienestar general. Este proyecto de investigación ha perseguido el desarrollo de un sistema electrónico que emplee señales electrofisiológicas y técnicas de machine learning para identificar niveles de estrés en estudiantes universitarios en este entorno desafiante. Para alcanzar dicho objetivo, se ha llevado a cabo una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva en bases de datos médicos y científicos, focalizándose en señales electrofisiológicas asociadas al estrés académico. Se han seleccionado sensores específicos, como el Grove GSR y Muscle Sensor V3, y todo el proceso se ha desarrollado en el microcontrolador ESP32 Tiny S3, aprovechando su capacidad y tamaño para crear un dispositivo portátil. Los datos procesados se almacenaron en un servidor web mediante peticiones PHP. Las métricas de evaluación del algoritmo de machine learning revelaron una alta precisión del 0.96, respaldada por un índice de 0.97 en el conjunto de entrenamiento, 0.97 en el conjunto de prueba y 0.9 en la etapa de validación con el método de validación cruzada. Estos resultados confirman que el algoritmo Random Forest gestiona de manera eficiente la clasificación y el entrenamiento, sobresaliendo en comparación con otros algoritmos evaluados. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2022-09) Silva Naranjo, Bryan Patricio; Castro Martin, Ana PamelaThis research project focused on the implementation of an intelligent dispenser of four varieties of nuts categorized in three different sizes, based on an IoT architecture proposed by the researcher, which serves as a reference model for more IoT projects of interest, because, in the world of IoT, there is no standardized architecture that serves as the basis for projects focused on Industry 4.0. The architecture consists of three layers. The devices layer, which has sensors and actuators that allow the acquisition and visualization of data together with the actuation of mechanisms designed and printed in 3D that dispense the nuts in an appropriate way into a single common container. The data processing layer, which is from Fog computing, since the Arduino Mega microcontroller together with the NodeMCU are in charge of making decisions and sending valid data to the server, which is inside the third and last layer, the layer of services in the Cloud, which consists of multiple web programming files elaborated with knowledge in PHP, HTML, CSS, SQL and JavaScript that together form Web Interfaces so that both the owner of the company , like customers, have access to an IoT visualization environment, the same one that interacts with a database, registering multiple variables such as user data, orders and the values acquired by the smart dispenser sensors. It is expected that the design of this prototype will be helpful to Lula Organic company in terms of improving its services to customers, in such a way that their demand for participation and product customization is satisfied through a pleasant and innovative experience and that is willing to be rewarded with an additional charge in exchange for enjoying it, facts that are supported by the characteristics of Industry 4.0.Item Dispositivo portátil para la detección temprana de arritmias cardiacas en adultos mayores mediante técnicas de inteligencia artificial(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2025-02) Aguilar Paucar Karol Nataly; Benalcázar Palacios Freddy GeovannyCardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with cardiac arrhythmias being a significant factor in many of these cases. Early detection of these irregularities is crucial to prevent serious complications and improve patients' quality of life. This research focuses on the development of a portable device for the early detection of cardiac arrhythmias, combining advanced biomedical module technologies, signal processing, and machine learning models. The device uses an LSTM autoencoder-decoder model to analyze electrocardiogram (ECG) signals in real time, identifying abnormal patterns in time series and distinguishing between normal and arrhythmic heart rhythms. The high-quality ECG5000 database was used for training and validating the model. The research includes key stages such as data acquisition, preprocessing to reduce noise and artifacts, model implementation, and validation testing in a controlled environment. Preliminary results show that the device is capable of detecting arrhythmias with high accuracy and speed, making it a valuable tool for remote monitoring and the prevention of cardiovascular events. This project not only contributes to technical advancements but also provides an accessible solution for cardiac health monitoring, improving the ability of patients and healthcare professionals to address cardiovascular conditions promptly and efficiently.Item Estudio de los niveles de radiación electromagnética en la Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2024-08) Valverde Sánchez, Edwin David; Cuji Rodríguez, Julio EnriqueThe development of technology, together with the constant increase in energy consumption, generates the need to evaluate and storage of this energy from the environment. There is not much research on how to capture and efficiently use this energy. To measure the non-ionizing radiation in the FISEI campus, recurrent and sporadic nodes were determined in which a measurement of the immission electric field was taken in a wide band between 50 MHz and 3.5 GHz during 6 minutes in the morning, half day and afternoon during a period of 4 weeks using PCE EM 29 instruments. Finally, the data is transferred to ArcGIS to create a radiation diagram using the kernel interpolation method. Nodes with high electric field level were identified in Agora (0.665 V/m), Hall E (0.568 V/m), Garden 1 (0.427 V/m) and Car Park (0.389 V/m). The radiation diagrams show that the areas near the Access Points exhibit elevated levels of electromagnetic radiation. However, these levels do not exceed safe limits according to ARCOTEL regulations. Energy harvesting tests show that areas with higher radiation generate significant voltage gains (0.307 V), demonstrating higher energy harvesting efficiency compared to areas with lower radiation.Item Evaluación de riesgos para un sistema de gestión de seguridad de la información en base a la Norma ISO/IEC 27001 aplicado a un proveedor de servicios de internet(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. The importance of cybersecurity is evident in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as cybercriminals seek new ways to exploit vulnerabilities in systems and networks. One of the primary concerns is protecting sensitive data of companies and users. In today's digital age, it is crucial to safeguard against cyber threats and attacks, secure information, and ensure the integrity of systems and critical infrastructure. In the case of an ISP, Risk Assessment is important due to the critical nature of the data they handle. Risks may include unauthorized access to user information, data loss, online fraud, and damage to the organization's reputation. This assessment is comprehensive, considering factors such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, as well as risks associated with processes and technology used based on the ISO/IEC 27001 standard. Since an ISP manages large amounts of customer and user data, it provides a framework for the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement against threats, vulnerability assessment, and the likelihood of occurrence for each risk, along with mitigation measures. Through Open Source technology, information assets are identified, and the evaluation of threats and vulnerabilities to which they are exposed is conducted. Additionally, the potential impact of a threat on the company is determined. With this information, appropriate information security measures are implemented to mitigate the identified risks.Item Fortalecimiento de la conectividad y seguridad en la red inalámbrica de la Unidad Educativa Bolívar(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2025-02) Jerez Masaquiza Flavio Antonio; Manzano Villafuerte Víctor SantiagoConnectivity and security in wireless networks are essential for ensuring efficient and safe access to digital resources in educational institutions. This project focuses on diagnosing and improving the wireless network at Unidad Educativa Bolívar. The assessment identified issues such as poor coverage, insufficient network segmentation, and weak security measures, which negatively impacted the network’s performance and the user experience. To address these issues, the network was redesigned by optimizing its physical and logical configuration. The optimization process included analyzing channel interference, implementing VLANs to organize traffic and enhance security, and strategically relocating access points to improve coverage. Tools such as Acrylic Wi-Fi Heatmaps were used to simulate and verify the improved coverage, while AutoCAD was utilized to create accurate institutional maps. International standards were also applied for organizing and labeling cables. During the implementation, a complete backup of configurations was performed, outdated equipment in the data center was replaced, and advanced security features were configured. These included WPA2-AES encryption for all access points, VLAN implementation, and the creation of specific rules in Mikrotik routers. The results demonstrated significant improvements in connectivity, coverage, and security, enabling more efficient and secure access to digital resources.Item Guías de prácticas de laboratorio interdisciplinarias para sistemas de comunicaciones utilizando radio definido por software.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. In response to these trends, the search for innovative solutions and solid knowledge in this field has become essential. In this context, USRP teams have stood out in the field of development and research in academic environments, thanks to their versatility and flexibility in implementing communication systems using software. The aim of this research project is the implementation of a set of laboratory practices using free software and USRP devices. Its purpose is to complement the theoretical study of academic areas covered in the Telecommunications Engineering program. The goal is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge in a practical and experimental environment. The execution of these practices facilitates students' understanding of the relationship and joint use of software and hardware, serving as an essential introduction to the field of software-defined radio devices. In this sense, the project seeks to facilitate the understanding of the use of this technology through a document detailing the development and procedure of the practices. This document will serve as a guide for laboratory instructors, allowing them to efficiently manage the devices. The academic areas addressed in this work, essential for the management and configuration of the systems to be implemented, include modules such as Linear Systems, Signal Processing, Analog and Digital Communications, Wireless Systems, and Advanced Communications.Item Honeynet para análisis, evaluación y tratamiento de riesgos cibernéticos en un sistema iot(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2024-08) Acosta Proaño, Yulisa Francisca; Sánchez Zumba, Andrea PatriciaThe security of home IoT systems is critical for protecting sensitive data and ensuring the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of information and devices. Nessus was utilized to analyze the vulnerabilities of the most common smart devices on the market. Based on these findings, a Honeynet was designed to expose these vulnerabilities and illustrate potential attacks on home IoT devices. Penetration tests were conducted to assess the security of devices within the home IoT system, as well as tests through the Honeynet, which included WiFi network hacking and control of IoT devices from the LAN. The honeypots deployed in the project are ConPot and CitrixHoneypot, which logged exploits of vulnerabilities CVE-2013-2566 and CVE-2015-2808. Additionally, a custom honeypot in Python was created to capture TCP SYN Flooding DoS attacks on port 6668/TCP utilizing the IRC service. The results of these tests were crucial in developing a risk treatment plan, based on a baseline model for data security, privacy of individuals, and IoT devices in home environments. A GAP analysis was conducted to determine the current state of the system. The risk treatment plan proposes specific controls and policies to mitigate identified risks and enhance the security of the IoT system, ensuring continuous and robust protection for IoT devices in smart homes.Item Identificación temprana de presencia de plagas en cultivos de ambiente controlado empleando visión artificial y deep learning(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2025-02) Lascano Villafuerte Erick Fernando; Córdova Córdova Edgar PatricioThe cultivation of crops in controlled environments offers optimal conditions for their growth. However, the presence of pests can adversely impact both the quantity and the quality of the produce. This phenomenon exerts a deleterious effect on the economic viability of farmers. To address these challenges, farmers have adopted technological solutions, such as Agriculture 5.0, to enhance their productivity and quality of produce. A study was conducted with the objective of implementing a system for pest detection, utilizing Computer Vision and Deep Learning technologies. It is imperative to detect pests in crops at an early stage to avert production losses. Consequently, the system is predicated on a neural network capable of accurately detecting various pests. The system is comprised of four distinct stages: acquisition, training, processing, and visualization. In the initial acquisition stage, four cameras were utilized to capture images and video. The training stage entailed the utilization of collected data in conjunction with a model adept at functioning with constrained resources while maintaining optimal detection accuracy. The image processing stage entailed the utilization of a microcomputer that had been optimized to operate in conjunction with artificial intelligence. The visualization and information management stage involved the development of a graphic interface capable of displaying the data obtained. The trained model demonstrated an accuracy of 95.7% in the detection of pests, and subsequent system tests yielded a reliability of 93.7%, thus confirming the system's reliability.Item Indumentaria electrónica orientada al monitoreo del ritmo cardíaco en deportistas basado e Energy Harvesting.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Telecomunicaciones, 2023-03) Veloz Jaya, Alexis Israel; Manzano Villafuerte, SantiagoThis project shows the design and implementation of an electronic textile for continuous heart rate monitoring based on energy harvesting, divided into a sweater that incorporates the heart rate sensor along with the flexible solar panel for energy collection and a removable module that allows the display and sending of data. For the continuous measurement of beats per minute (bpm), the MAX30102 sensor was used, which uses the photoplethysmography method to detect the heart's pulsations based on the light reflected from the blood circulating in the blood vessels. These measurements are displayed on an oled display, located in the removable module on the chest, allowing easy viewing of data by the athlete. For data processing, the Arduino Lilypad USB microcontroller is used whose supply voltage can vary between 3.3 V and 5.5 V, for power supply to the microcontroller a flexible solar panel was used, which has a maximum output voltage of 7.9 V, this voltage is rectified by the MP1584EN reducer module whose output was adjusted so that when the solar panel delivers the maximum voltage of 7.9 V the module delivers a maximum of 5.35 V. To keep track of the data, they are sent to a database in Firebase, for which a SIM800L module using GSM/GPRS wireless technology was used. The sending of alerts for exceeding the maximum heart rate threshold is done by push notifications to the mobile device through the application developed for Android, which also allows access to the data log and to consult the connection and battery status of the clothing. Finally, bpm measurements are 98%, which is within the ANSI/AAMI EC13 standard, which establishes a percentage of up to ± 10% or ± 5bpm error. The solar panel allows up to 6 hours of energy autonomy for the electronic clothing on a sunny day and 5 hours on a cloudy day.Item Infraestructura NFV con tecnología SDN para brindar servicios de red en IOT(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. For this reason, new technologies must be sought to expand the possibilities and satisfy the demand for these devices. Through virtualization, IoT applications have been allowed to be more efficient, flexible, scalable and economical, depending on network requirements. This research project studies virtualized network functions (NFV) and SDN networks, proposing a modern and adaptable infrastructure based on these emerging technologies. In the first instance, an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) implemented in OpenStack is presented, which includes cloud network services designed to support IoT applications. Secondly, a software-defined network (SDN) architecture is presented, in which a switch with the OpenFlow 1.3 protocol is implemented as an access point for IoT devices. Mientras que en el módulo de Periféricos implementa prácticas que permiten a los estudiantes ajustar el software y verificar la funcionalidad de cada periférico. En el módulo actuadores amplían el conocimiento en la integración de software y actuadores eléctricos, proporcionando una comprensión profunda del prototipado. También en el módulo de sensores, se combina la programación con la electrónica para adquirir datos de módulos o sensores externos, fusionando ambas disciplinas de manera práctica. El módulo de comunicaciones inalámbricas interconecta componentes de manera inalámbrica, permitiendo la integración de la electrónica y programación mediante comunicaciones inalámbricas.
