    Programa de entrenamiento recreativo en base al fútbol para la funcionalidad física del adulto mayor

    The physical funtionality refers to the ability to carry out daily activities autonomously in the environment. The recreational football offers a modern approach that encourage both social cohesion and the practice of physical activity, key factors to improve or maintain this functionality. Therefore, the objective of this Project was to determine the effects of a recreational training program in the physical functionality of elderly. The sample included 30 elderly between 67 and 82 years old, who belong to “San Juan de Agua Santa” community in Pujili Canton. All participated in a training program based on football, which was developed during 12 weeks with a frequency of three times a week. The participants were evaluated before and after the intervention thought the Senior Fitness Test (SFT) battery and the Lawton and Brody escalation. During the training, the exercises were adapted incorporating technical, recreational and physical components, with simple and combined exercises, both with and without a ball. Each week, the number of repetitions, the difficulty and the time of the activities were gradually increased. Fort he stadistical analysis, the SPSS program was used. The results show significant improvements in the physical functionality of elderly who reach high and moderate levels of physical functionality. In addition, changes were observed in the levels of performance in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. It concludes that the recreational training program base don football is beneficial to improve the physical functionality of elderly since it strengthens their physical capacities leading to a better performance in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. These areas are closely related, since physical functionality is essential to optimally execute daily tasks that require strength, flexibility, aerobic endurance and agility.

    Efecto de los ejercicios de charriere en el dolor cervical en docentes

    Charriere exercises are applied in patients with neck pain, these have the main purpose of reducing pain, also contributes to a better posture of the head and neck; therefore also favors the posture. The general objective of the research project is to determine the effects of the application of Charriere exercises in teachers with cervical pain, in order to reduce and prevent the symptomatology, as well as to reduce the degree of cervical disability in the personnel of the Educational Unit of the Province of Cotopaxi in relation to the working day. The population in which the Charriere exercise program was executed were 28 teachers with cervical pain, who signed an informed consent for voluntary participation in the program. To obtain the sociodemographic data and factors, a survey was used, for the initial and final assessment of pain, the VAS, NDI and NPQ scales were used, and these questionnaires also allowed determining the state of disability of the teachers in the cervical area. The time employed in the research work was 16 sessions. The effects achieved with the application of treatment was the decrease in pain intensity where 79% of people went from very severe to moderate-severe pain according to the VAS scale, also a significant reduction in the degree of cervical disability and daily activities, in the NDI and NPQ there was an improvement with xiv 21% of subjects with mild disability in both questionnaires in relation to the initial and final evaluation. It is concluded that treatment with Charriere's exercises is effective in terms of cervical pain and the degree of movement disability.
