Item Plan terapéutico de fuerza muscular en miembros inferiores con musicoterapia en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 2(2025-03-11) Balladares López, Mishell Monserrat; Reales Chacón, Lisbeth Josefina; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de PosgradosDiabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2) is classified as a chronic condition characterized by pathophysiological mechanisms such as insulin resistance and progressive dysfunction of beta cells, leading to inefficient glucose absorption at the musculoskeletal level. This results in alterations in muscle fibers, pain, and weakness. In the lower limbs, there is evidence of a higher prevalence of problems related to locomotion, independence, and functionality in individuals suffering from this condition. Strength exercises combined with music therapy have been shown to improve the characteristics of muscle fibers, enhance internal cellular signaling through specific muscle contractions, and promote adherence to exercise protocols. The purpose of this article was to apply a therapeutic plan focused on muscular strength in the lower limbs combined with music therapy in patients with DM2. The methodology was developed using a quantitative, analytical, prospective, and longitudinal approach with an applicative and intervention-level framework. A sample of 30 individuals from the Centro Recreacional del Adulto Mayor del GAD de Atahualpa was divided into two groups: experimental and control. The sampling design was non-probabilistic and based on convenience. Data collection involved a demographic card, dynamometry tests for lower limbs, the Chair Stand Test, and the Height and Weight items from the Senior Fitness Test battery. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software and Student's t-test. The primary findings indicated that at the level of ankle dorsiflexors (mean difference: 7.333) and hip abductors (mean difference: 4.667), the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements compared to the control group, which showed negative results. These findings affirm that strength exercises targeting the lower limbs, combined with music therapy, effectively benefit patients diagnosed with DM2.Item Aplicación de ejercicios de resistencia para mejorar el rendimiento físico en adultos mayores(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Terapia Física, 2022-03-01) Zúñiga Montenegro, Isabela Carolina; Lcda. Mg. Moscoso Córdova, Grace VerónicaSedentary lifestyle and physical inactivity can have negative health effects, in older adults, increasing mortality, activities that involve physical movement reduce the probability of presenting cognitive, mental or physical disorders. Objective: Decide the effects of applying a resistance exercise program on the physical performance of older adults. Materials and methods: The present investigation has a qualitative-quantitative and descriptive approach, which was developed through the study of cases, the investigation is supported by evidence was carried out in the nursing home "Sagrado Corazón de Jesús" where 12 older adults participated without distinction of sex. Results: The application of resistance exercises showed a remarkable and favorable change in the physical condition in old people. Mg.Upon reaching the elderly there is a progressive deterioration of several fundamental pillars that allow independence, both functional and cognitive and improve the quality of life, so there are significant changes in groups that perform and not physical activity. Thus, this research work was established to assess both independence, functional capacity and tone analysis in older adults who perform and don't exercise. This is a bibliographic-documentary, field, exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional study, which included 40 older adults who met the requirements for the different tests. Once the population to investigate was determined, the tools used for data collection necessary for the development of this research were chosen, the SENIOR FITNESS TEST which is a 6 years long test. This test values flexibility and it also was used to value upper body strength, to train lower endurance and dynamic balance. Moreover a data collection sheet was used: CLÍNICAL HISTORY an assessment test of independence: BARTHEL TEST and test TONE EVALUATIÓN. Giving us as a result that the functional capacity of the elderly has a strict relationship with the amount of physical activity they perform. This happens because the group that does the most physical activity shows better results.
