(2022-09) Caiza Freire, Dennys Oswaldo; Acosta Lozada, Rodrigo Ivan
The project is carried out in agreement with the GAD rural parish of Santiago de Calpi and the Technical University of Ambato. For the design of this project, international standards such as AASHTO, SUCS and ASTM were used: AASHTO, SUCS and ASTM, and in national standards, were: MOP 2003, NEVI 2012, MOP -001-f 2002 and INEN 2011, based on these, the objectives to be addressed were carried out, such as: traffic count, topographic survey, soil study, geometric design of the road, hydraulic design, pavement design, signaling and budget. The road has a length of 4404.36 meters; according to the traffic count and its respective analysis, a fourth order road was determined, where a total width of 9.20 meters was necessary, including lane width, curbs and shoulders. The topographic study consists of a 40-meter strip width starting from the road axis; for the soil study, borings were made every 500 meters starting from the 0+500.00 km abscissa. The geometric design included: horizontal and vertical design, cross sections, mass diagram and cut and fill volumes. The improvement of this road is a fundamental part for the development of the parish of Santiago de Calpi, since it allows improving livestock, agriculture, tourism and communication between neighboring sectors, as well as providing safety and comfort for road users.

The purpose of this Project is to carry out the geometric design of the road, with the purpose of contributing to the socioeconomic development and quality of life of the inhabitants of the sector. This project presents the traffic study, topographic survey, soil studies, pavement design, geometric road design, signaling and the analysis of the referential budget. The traffic study was carried out manually and with this, the type of road for the specific traffic flow was determined. On the other hand, the topographic survey allows us to obtain the georeferenced location, characteristics of the terrain, house, culverts and bridges to consider everything in the route layout. The geometric design was carried out with AutoCAD Civil 3D software taking into consideration the annual average daily traffic, the design speed and standards established by the MTOP. It should be noted that for better vehicular circulation, proper signage was implemented in the road design. Through soil studies it was possible to determine the characteristic of the existing materials on the road, consecutively the C.B.R. of design for the determination of the pavement structure. The analysis of the referential budget contemplates a value without VAT, which should be taken into consideration when building the road.

The main objective of this project is to carry out the geometric design of the road, to achieve socioeconomic development and improve the quality of life of the population of the sector. The project began with the inspection of the sector, as well as the topographic survey, being of great help the total station to obtain the geographical coordinates, elevation of the land, location of houses, sewers, bridges and various constructions surrounding the road . The properties and quality of the existing soil in the sector were identified, a vehicle count was carried out manually on a neighboring road because the existing traffic on the road is very scarce due to the conditions in which it is located, this contributed to the design geometry and the calculation of the pavement structure. Once the project is finished, it will be delivered to the Decentralized Autonomous Government of Moraspungo as a contribution from the Technical University of Ambato, for the community, who will be able to use it in the optimal way to carry out this work.

The present technical project of beginning with the topographic survey, made with the total station, to determine the type of surface of the land in order to relate to the regulations and proceed with the layout. For the determination of vehicular volume, a method of manual counting was chosen during the 7 days of the week that took place from Monday, June 3, 2019 to Sunday, June 9, 2019 with a duration of 12 hours a day. The data obtained served to determine the Average Daily Traffic (TPDA) proceeding with the methods of the equivalent vehicle and the thirty hour. With the data obtained in the field, we proceeded with the geometric design of the road in a horizontal, vertical and transversal direction, taking into account the criteria and design standards in force in the Ecuadorian state. Once the geometric design was developed, we proceeded to obtain the mass volumes by means of the vertical design of the road, to later elaborate the referential budget of the section of the road under study. The aforementioned procedures are tabulated for easy interpretation and the geometric design is elaborated in properly georeferenced plans.
