Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2025-02) Guzmán Bayas, Rubén Alejandro; Bayas Altamirano, Myriam MarisolGiven the advanced deterioration of the Danzapamba and San José de Barba la Y neighborhood roads, the current safety and road infrastructure standards do not meet the technical requirements necessary to guarantee their optimal serviceability, for which a comprehensive and sustainable maintenance plan is proposed. This responds directly to the urgent need for adequate, modern and efficient road infrastructure for the continued progress of the inhabitants to ensure their safety and that of road users in general. To establish an effective road maintenance plan, we began with a thorough assessment of the road's current condition. This critical stage involved techniques such as topographic surveying with the aid of a high-precision RTK instrument, as well as detailed traffic studies and laboratory soil analysis. The evaluation of the Pavement Index (PCI) complemented this information, allowing the existing deterioration to be quantified. With this data, an optimal structural package for flexible pavements was designed and a reference budget was prepared, thus ensuring an efficient and long-lasting road intervention. After a thorough analysis, it was established that the evaluated road has an extension of 5 km, which is paved in its entirety, and it is expected that in the next 20 years an average of 6792 vehicles/day will circulate on it. Considering these characteristics, the road was classified as a class I road. The soil studies indicated an average CBR index of 16.50 percent, classifying the soil as fair to good for subgrade use. Based on this data, the flexible pavement was designed with a thickness of 5 cm of asphalt layer, 20 cm of base and 20 cm of subbase, thus obtaining a value of 45 cm of structural package. Finally, an economic analysis was performed, resulting in an estimated total project cost of $685.945,65.Item Mejoramiento del trazado geométrico y diseño de la estructura del pavimento, desde el sector Guadalupe al puente de Patate San Javier, del cantón Patate, provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Gavilanes Padilla, Mercedes Estefanía; Moya Medina, Dilon GermánThe road infrastructure that connects the Guadalupe sector with the "Los Sauces" bridge in Patate San Javier has problems in different sections of its geometric design, especially in curves, because they do not comply with the minimum widths required by heavy transport users, consequently, they are delayed in taking these curve s, hindering the passage and delaying the other occupants of the road; therefore, modifications were made to the current layout, ensuring safety, comfort and efficiency when driving. For the completion of the project, a topographic survey of the road was carried out to determine the current conditions of the terrain. A traffic study was carried out by means of a manual vehicle count in order to determine the type of road according to t he future TPDA obtained, resulting in a Class II Road according to the MTOP and a two lane C1 road according to the NEVI 12. In addition, soil samples were taken for each kilometer and analyzed in the laboratory for: granulometry, moisture content, Atterbe rg Limits, Modified Proctor Type B and CBR according to the AASHTO standard; once the soil analysis was completed, the pavement structure was designed according to the parameters established by the AASHTO 93 standard. Finally, the new geometric layout of the road was developed with its respective minor works of art, work volumes were quantified, and a reference budget was estimated by analyzing unit prices with values updated by the construction market. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-09) Fiallos Cevallos, María José; Pérez Maldonado, Ruth LorenaRiobamba city has various alternative routes for access, one of which is the Pelileo - Cotaló road. This road has shown deterioration in its pavement structure, raising the need for developing an appropriate conservation plan to maintain it in optimal conditions and ensure its functionality. An exhaustive topographic survey of the Pelileo - Cotaló road was carried out, providing detailed information about its physical characteristics. Additionally, vulnerable areas of the road were identified through this survey, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent development of the conservation plan. Furthermore, a comprehensive traffic study was conducted on the road, based on the Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT). This analysis allowed for understanding the vehicular flow and vehicle characteristics, and the PCI was performed. These data were fundamental in comprehending pavement wear and deterioration, as well as identifying specific maintenance needs. As a result of this work, a specific maintenance plan was proposed to address the road's deterioration. The plan relied on the data obtained from the topographic survey and traffic study. Proposed actions included crack sealing, pothole repair, and periodic maintenance. These interventions have proven effective in improving the road's condition to ensure its durability and safety. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-03) Rueda Leguisamo, Christian Fabricio; Acosta Lozada, Rodrigo Ivan, The García Moreno - Urbina road to the sector of the Artesana of the Comunidad Santa Lucia de Chuquipoguio, has a road in poor condition unsuitable for trade, productivity and tourism of the inhabitants bordering the sector. Due to the problems of the sector, the geometric design of the road is made according to the present regulations of the NEVI, MOP and AASHTO, which has a roadway width of 6.00m and a shoulder of 1.00m, in addition the hydraulic data help to assume a width of 0.80m of ditch, as well as culverts of a diameter of 1.20m, covering the future fluvial conditions of the site. According to the soil study, a C.B.R. of 10.37 at the subgrade level was obtained, which is estimated that an improvement of the road platform is not necessary, the pavement structure consists of a sub-base of 0.15m, a base of 0.10m and a wearing course of 0.065m, thus providing safety and reliability for the driver. The referential budget was made and it will be delivered together with the geometric design of the road, to the GAD Parroquial Rural de San Andres, Canton Guano, Province of Chimborazo, to be used for the benefit of the communities, all this as a contribution of the Technical University of Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-03) Tigasi Tipan, Freddy Rolando; Núñez Aldás, Galo WilfridoDue to the fact that the study road is not in adequate conditions for the mobilization of its inhabitants and therefore the commercialization of their products, this study was developed to improve the quality of life of the sector. The development of this project was deployed in the canton Pujilí belonging to the province of Cotopaxi in order to improve the road, for the geometric design work was conducted a study process of the current conditions of the road, which consisted of conducting a study process of the current conditions of the road, This consisted of a topographic survey, a vehicular traffic count, which allowed us to determine the future traffic that indicated the type of road, the calculations for the horizontal and vertical design, and the cross section elements that were developed according to the current regulations applied for the study, such as the MOP-2003. After that, we proceeded to obtain field samples, in order to analyze them in the laboratory, determining the characteristics of the soil according to its evaluation, the adequate thickness of each of the layers that make up the pavement structure, for this study we used the methodology of the AASHTO-93, in addition we made the referential budget for the execution of the project, establishing: the items, volumes of work and technical specifications.Item Diseño geométrico de la vía Ex Colonia Velasco Ibarra – Morete Cocha – Santa Mónica en el tramo km 0+000 – 4+000, perteneciente al cantón Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola, provincia de Napo(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-03) Cando Allaica, Welington Alfredo; Bayas Altamirano, Myriam MarisolThis project was developed in the canton of Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola, in the province of Napo, for the development of this work we approached the relevant authorities to communicate to the inhabitants the activities to be carried out. All the works corresponding to the geometric design of highways were carried out following the specifications established by the current regulations in the country, this being the MOP-2003 standard. The starting point was the traffic study for the determination of the annual average daily traffic, which was carried out manually at a strategic point for a period of 7 days with a duration of 12 hours, yielding the necessary data to obtain the projected future traffic, with which the road class was determined, allowing the development of the calculations for the horizontal and vertical alignment and elements of the cross sections of the road. Subsequently, soil tests were performed to determine its physical and mechanical characteristics, taking soil samples every 500 meters. Once the soil tests were completed, a design CBR was determined with which, using the AASHTO-93 method, the flexible pavement structure was designed, obtaining thicknesses for the base, subbase and asphalt layer. In addition, a topographic survey was carried out with RTK electronic equipment, obtaining georeferenced points to then carry out the geometric design of the road using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Finally, the referential budget for the project was established by performing the unit price analysis. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-09) Martínez Carabajo, Max Bryan; Bayas Altamirano, Myriam MarisolFor this technical project, the main objective was to obtain the geometric design and pavement structure of the Pinllopata - El Corazón road in the Km 7 + 900 - Km 11 + 800 section, belonging to the Pangua canton of the Cotopaxi province, thus improving the quality of life and the socioeconomic activity of the sector. To start the project, a visit and socialization of the project was carried out, then a topographic survey was carried out with the help of a drone, this allowed us to obtain the existing characteristics of the road and its surroundings, these being the width of the road, houses and constructions close to the study path. Once the characteristics of the sector were obtained, soil samples were taken to find out its properties and quality, based on these results obtained, the pavement structure was designed, as well as the existing vehicular count on the road was carried out manually. , which allowed us to make the geometric design of it. Finally, a referential budget was made which will serve as the basis for the residents of the sector to request the execution of the project, since it will be found as part of a collaboration between the Autonomous Decentralized Government of Pangua and the Technical University of Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-04) Chimbo Yumbo, Farit Carlos; Bayas Altamirano, Myriam MarisolThe present experimental work and was carried out with the purpose of establishing a method of conservation of the tread layer of the Ambato - Tisaleo road in the section 3 + 200 to 6 + 400 of the province of Tungurahua. A georeferenced survey was carried out every 20 meters of the road under study using a Satellite Receiver (GPS), generating a digitization of the road. To determine the vehicle traffic study, a vehicle count was carried out manually, 7 days a week from 06:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. thus generating future traffic of 10,917 vehicles / day. Through the Benkelman Beam test, the behavior of the pavement structure and the subgrade was known through deflections, establishing that it generates type I deflections. With the PCI test, which establishes that samples should be taken by units in intervals allowing to know the road failures with their respective severity. Four pits were made along the road, by means of which it was possible to determine the optimal moisture content and the maximum dry density through the modified Proctor, the liquid index and the plasticity index with the Limits of Attemberg and the CBR of the ground with its respective test. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2020) González Aguirre, Christian Eduardo; Portilla Yandún, Favio PaúlThe purpose of this research is to determine correlations between the Index and Mechanical Properties with the laboratory CBR, for the execution of the project, 12 different samples of the surrounding soil were taken from the 3 main roads of importance of two parishes in the canton Ambato, Juan Benigno Vela and Pilahuín. After sampling, the respective field and laboratory tests were performed to determine the multiple properties of the soil samples analyzed. Once the necessary data for each soil sample was obtained, the correlation between its index and mechanical properties was carried out, resulting in a total of 29 correlations generated from two and three variables. The level of reliability of these correlations ranges from 53 to 86 percent, varying from one to the other with the number of samples analyzed as a whole, which in general can be translated into correlations of a good degree of reliability. With regard to the determination of the CBR of the project by means of the correlations raised for its application in a layout of a pavement structure in granular soils, it can be said that they have a good relationship with a minimum error based on the real value calculated by means of laboratory tests. These correlations are specifically designed for use on uniform granular soils.
