The lack of an adequate solid waste management system in the footwear industry has a significant environmental impact. Currently, much of the waste generated in this industry is disposed of as common garbage, which causes problems of landfill saturation, contamination, and health risks. For this reason, the objective of the degree project “Solid waste management in the production area of the Wonderland footwear company” is to analyze solid waste management in this area. During a period of two months, the production of waste in Wonderland's facilities was analyzed through the collection of data provided by seven workers. The results reveal that approximately 86,179 kg were generated in eight weeks in the solid waste production area, among which leather scraps stand out as the main contaminant, representing 43.9% of the total. Other waste identified included cardboard (16.2%), fabric and polyethylene lining (10.8%), interlining (6.7%) and rubber sole particles (5.2%). This finding demonstrates the importance of focusing on waste reduction to achieve significant improvement in waste management. In conclusion, it is important to implement a comprehensive management program that includes a classification system, monitoring, personnel training, and verification of compliance with current national environmental regulations based on the Unified Environmental Information System (SUIA) and the Ministry of the Environment, which are referenced with standards such as INEN 2266, Ministerial Agreement 142 and Ministerial Agreement 061, among others, as well as international standards such as ISO 14001, to reduce environmental impact and optimize processes, avoiding future financial penalties or partial or total closure of the company

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025-02) Carrera Zurita Karen Mayté; Urrutia Urrutia Fernando
The main objective of this research was to propose a maintenance plan applying the RCM methodology for the production area of the company Cepolfi Industrial C.A. An analysis and coding of the equipment and machinery in the production area of the company was carried out, which was made up of 3 digits, the first corresponding to the production plant, the second digit to the area where the equipment is located, and the third digit belonged to the initials and numbering of each of the machines, following the guidelines of the ISO 14224 standard. Subsequently, failure modes and effects matrices (FMEA) were made, in which the components of each machinery and equipment are broken down, with the respective failures that occur, after which the IRP (Risk Priority Index) was calculated by multiplying the severity index (G), by the occurrence index (O) and the detectability (D), which according to NTP 679, if the value is greater than 100 the risk is considered high. Similarly, the decision matrices of each machinery of the Cepolfi company were created based on the weighted factor method, considering 5 factors, the priority for the operation of the machine (P), the implementation cost (C), the technical feasibility (F), the scope (A), and the available resources (R), each of these factors were scored as 1 = Low, 2 = Medium Low, 3 = Medium, 4 = Medium High and 5 = High, this helped in the selection of the most relevant maintenance tasks for each equipment and machinery. With the previously developed procedures, the predictive maintenance plan based on RCM was developed, focused on the identification of key components, fault prioritization, definition of specific protocols, selection of tasks based on decision matrices. Finally, the maintenance schedule was included with a one-year projection, using color scales with their respective frequency of performance, which becomes a tool to organize, plan and optimize the management of predictive maintenance, with the purpose of increasing production, preventing unforeseen stoppages.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-08) Lara Miranda, Lourdes Amanda; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel Ernesto
Promepell S.A., is facing production delays due to inadequate planning in its operational activities, resulting in the postponement of deliveries. The project aims to develop a model for production and capacity planning for the leather manufacturing processes in the footwear and upholstery production lines, enabling the company to fulfill customer orders according to established delivery dates. The methodology applied involved using Excel software for various calculations. Additionally, a time study was conducted as a basis for subsequent calculations, considering the products that the company primarily manufactures based on leather type and demand. A capacity analysis was also performed, focusing on necessary resources and demand forecasts. This analysis identified the bottleneck process that restricts production. A master production schedule was developed, indicating the required weekly production, and an approximate capacity plan was created to identify potential underloads or overloads in the processes, considering the available resources to meet future orders. With the production and capacity planning model, the company can determine daily production quantities, the processes to be carried out at each work center, the production hours, and the number of workers required for each process. This ensures better productivity through effective management and scheduling.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización, 2023-03) Játiva Amores, José Paúl; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel Ernesto
The purpose of this research is to present a proposal for the physical redistribution of the facilities within the footwear company GUSMAR, this proposal allows to improve the productivity of the plant, removing useless distances and optimizing the available space. For the development of the project, three fundamental stages were considered: in the first stage, information was gathered on the current conditions of the production process; in the second stage, tools and methodologies for the distribution of facilities were used; and finally, the model of the current distribution and the proposed distribution were simulated using FlexSim software, in order to compare and select the alternative that would increase productivity. To generate the redistribution alternatives, the systematic distribution planning (SLP) method was used, then two alternatives were proposed and evaluated by means of the load-distance analysis, where it was determined that alternative 2 is optimal, since it reduces the distance traveled by the material by 26.75%, equivalent to 91,014.80 meters. And with the objective of reducing the longest duration times in the processes of trimming and assembly (bottleneck) where a flexible distribution in those workstations was carried out The distribution proposal was validated by analyzing the indicators obtained in the FlexSim software simulation of the entire footwear manufacturing line, where it was shown that this proposal generates an increase in productivity of 0.06%, or the same from 0.63 to 0.67 pairs/hour of work, or the increase from 625 pairs of shoes to 667, without generating an additional cost by redistributing the facilities of the GUSMAR footwear production plant.

The main objective of this degree work is to propose an improvement proposal in the production line that manufactures the star product of the IMPACTEX corporation in the city of Ambato, a company dedicated mainly to the manufacture of intimate apparel for women, men and children. The research carried out had a quali-quantitative methodological approach, of a qualitative nature because direct observation was carried out to obtain informative data from the corporation, on the other hand, in the quantitative approach the star product was determined with an ABC analysis, then the times of each activity necessary for the manufacture of the product were taken and the critical area was determined where a study of times and movements was carried out, with which the flow of the raw material, the standard time and finally the production capacity of each activity was determined. With the standard time calculated for each activity, we proceeded to determine a proposal for improvement using engineering tools, unnecessary transports were eliminated in order to subsequently carry out a balance of assembly lines, where the effective times of each operator were balanced and production was maximized. As a result of the elimination of unnecessary transports, an improvement of 23% in the operating ratio was obtained, as for the balance of lines, an increase in production of 57 dozens of finished product per workday was obtained, with a balance in the production load of 35%, demonstrating the feasibility of implementing the proposed improvement. The data of the proposed improvement was validated using FlexSim simulation software, corroborating the benefits that would be obtained with the elimination of unnecessary transports and balancing the assembly line in the IMPACTEX corporation's apparel area.

The planning of material requirements is a fundamental part in companies, due to the advantages that have been demonstrated with the application within manufacturing processes, several companies worldwide and recognized recommend inventory control and correct planning of materials. However, at the local level there are only a few companies that have invested time to learn about the subject; There are several methodologies with which to carry out this type of control, but thus, the best known method and the one that has presented successful results is the MRP, which is based on a master production plan or MPS, which must work synergistically to achieve the expected results. Within this investigation, we start by calculating the forecasts for the demands of the year 2022; This serves as the basis for knowing the list of materials and supplies or BOM of the slippers, consequently the MRP is carried out, which details the necessary quantities of each material and supply for each week, during the months of January to October of the year. 2022; Another important value is that the lowest cost of the production plan to be applied within the CM ORIGINAL company within the current year is known, this gives the company a future view of production, avoiding inconveniences at the time of delivery of orders.

The objective of this research is to develop a model for the redistribution of facilities, considering production and biosafety factors for the company CM Original. In which two mathematical models are developed oriented to a distribution in manufacturing cells, finding the appropriate product family, minimizing production and material handling costs, and determining the labor and machinery requirements. The research project begins with the identification of the current situation of the company in terms of processes, machines, products, times, and costs. The following stages consist of determining the most representative products, selection of the type of plant layout, construction of the mathematical models, elaboration of the proposal and simulation in FlexSim. The appropriate distribution must ensure social distancing, respond to the characteristics of the production, generate an improvement value and be feasible, resulting in a distribution by manufacturing cells. The construction of the mathematical model is based on the plant layout to be obtained, so Model 1 considers information regarding machines and products of the case study and establishes the use of two cells where each cell is assigned products that have the same manufacturing process, either bagging or side sewing. The efficiency in the grouping is 82.5%. While model 2 obtains a manufacturing and material handling cost in two scenarios: using a family of products with the current distribution and a proposal based on manufacturing cells, using the allocation of machines and products obtained in model 1, the manufacturing cost does not vary because the quantity to be produced is the same, however, the material handling cost is reduced by 35.10% with the proposed distribution.
