Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025-02) Cruz Chimbo Jonathan Dario; Ortiz Sailema Christian IsmaelThis study focuses on optimizing production processes of a footwear company located in Tungurahua, through a time and motion study and Lean Manufacturing tools application. The most demanded product, the VCS 222 model, was prioritized. Direct observations, unstructured interviews and the process diagrams preparation were carried out to gather information on the current situation. Through the calculation of normal and standard times, the daily, weekly, and monthly production capacity was determined. Analysis of seven wastes through Lean Manufacturing revealed significant problems in the plant layout, generating excessive transportation and time waste. Therefore, a Lean Manufacturing tool selection was developed, which defined 5s as the best tool to be applied and into this application, a plant redistribution proposal was designed using the SLP methodology. As a result, the internal transportation routes were reduced by 51% and productivity increased in the following areas and preliminary phases by the established percentages: Cutting Area 19.45%, Trimming Area 12.77%, Template Assembly 34%, Location of Toe and Counterbores 6.04%, Forming, Assembly and Supply 2.78%, Assembly Area 14.16%, and Finishing Area 3.62%. Finally, instruction was developed for the production manager and operators, detailing the appropriate work method, ensuring the effective implementation of improvements. This integrated approach made it possible to optimize resources, reduce time and increase efficiency in production processes, with a positive impact on production processesItem Distribución de instalaciones para la empresa Vinos D. Diaz(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-08) Labre Yugcha, Melida Abigail; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel ErnestoThe present research entitled "Distribution of facilities for the company D. Diaz wines" is focused on solving the problem of inefficient distribution of facilities, which generates excessive travel distances and interrupted work flow. The main objective of this work is to design a plant layout that optimizes the use of space, reduces travel distances and improves production flow in the new facility. To achieve this objective, a methodology is employed that includes an initial diagnosis of the current facilities, data collection through direct observation, interviews as well as time and activity analysis. The dimensions and characteristics of the spaces needed for each production area are evaluated, using software such as AutoCAD and FlexSim to simulate and analyze the proposal. The main results of this research reveal that the proposed layout of the facilities, validated by means of a simulation model, achieves a significant reduction of the distances traveled and the elimination of intersections in the production process. These changes significantly improve the production flow, reducing the distance traveled by 67.22% and increasing the operational efficiency in its production capacity to 6,000 bottles per year. In conclusion, the implementation of the new distribution model, analyzed through simulation in FlexSim, significantly optimizes the use of space in the plant and ensures a continuous production flow. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-08) González Flores, Yolanda Patricia; Rosero Mantilla, César AníbalThis study deals with the plant redistribution in Jambi Kiwa, a company dedicated to the production and commercialization of aromatic and medicinal herbal teas. Key aspects such as process design, micro-location of the facility and functional configuration were considered. In addition, the operations for obtaining the herbal teas, the distance traveled by the collaborators and the flow of activities in each production area were analyzed. The optimal redistribution combined batch and product distribution. The Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method was used to establish relationships and priorities between areas, minimizing distances traveled. In addition, the Guerchet Method was used to determine the areas required at each work center. Corelap 01 software helped to identify the ideal layout of the areas, prioritizing the areas of closest proximity. Using these criteria, a layout was designed to maximize operational efficiency and improve overall productivity, and four proposals were developed. To select the best option, a load-distance analysis was performed, evaluating the efficiency of each layout in terms of proximity and material flow. FlexSim software was also used to simulate and validate the proposals, ensuring workflow optimization. Proposal D turned out to be the most efficient, achieving a 10.60% reduction in the total distance traveled, equivalent to 351.25 meters, which significantly improves the work flow. This proposal, with a cost of $ 3000.16 for the operational and productive optimization of the plant. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización, 2024-02) Ortega Guaita, José Luis; Rosero Mantilla, César AníbalThe research work carried out at the textile company EDY SÁNCHEZ SPORT allowed for proposing improvements in the plant layout based on the study of the current situation to optimize workspaces and production resource flow. The objective was to analyze a proposal for a plant redistribution at the textile company EDY SÁNCHEZ SPORT based on data collection from the production process, starting from the current situation of the plant, resulting in: the company has three major processes distributed throughout the plant with a total of 30 activities, taking a time of 1961.56 s. and a distance of 113.77 m. to produce the highest demand product (Physical Education Hood of La Inmaculada). By using the SLP methodology, the appropriate sequence of activities was determined, and by employing the Guerchet method, it was determined that the company requires 195.36 m^2 for the placement of all objects in the plant. Through the proposal of two alternatives, it is suggested that sequence B allows for greater optimization with a total displacement of 73.40 m. and a working time of 1818.74 s., resulting in the production of 49 extra garments per month of work. Finally, through the analysis of load - distance, it was obtained that the company can reduce its monthly route from 7053.74 m. to a total of 4937.90 m.Item Diseño de distribución de planta en las nuevas instalaciones de la Empresa Metalmecánica Solutions(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-02) Padilla Plazarte, Luis Enrique; Rosero Mantilla, Cesar AníbalThis present research focuses on proposing an appropriate layout for the new facilities of the metal-mechanical company SOLUTIONS, starting with a detailed analysis of its current situation by identifying the processes and products it offers, as well as evaluating production capacity and identifying productive areas to focus the research on the object of study related to the manufacturing of conveyor belts. Typology of plant layout was analyzed, considering the sequence of the process and operational efficiency in each department. The determination of required spaces is carried out by considering legal regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of workers in the company. Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) methodology was applied to evaluate layout alternatives. In this, two scenarios are compared, weighing variables such as the proximity of related processes and the reduction of unnecessary movements. Choice of the optimal alternative is supported by the analysis of load-distance, in which criteria such as travel distance and material handling cost, which directly influence the productivity of the company, are studied. This selected alternative was studied as optimal through a detailed cost analysis covering the implementation of the winning proposal using financial indicators (NPV, IRR, ROI, and TRI) that facilitate determining the economic viability of the project and the time needed to recover the investment made. This allows the owner to make a future decision based on the favorable outcomes of these indicators. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-02) Basantes Criollo, Christian Andrés; Ortiz Sailema, Christian IsmaelThe present research analyzed the feasibility of an appropriate redistribution of the production plant to reduce the time and distance required to develop production batches. The stated objective was to reduce the travel distance between the work areas of the company Creaciones Deportivas Andrés according to the principle of minimum travel distance, based on three stages: First, information was collected, obtaining a total of 6 processes that require a time of 9308.01 s. and a distance of 25.39 m. to develop a batch of 10 garments. Second, using the Guerchet method, it was determined that the physical space of the material resources occupies 75.95%, and the remaining 24.05% is used for the flow of plant operators. Third, by removing unnecessary objects from the design area, the resources were appropriately relocated to carry out the cutting process on the ground floor in a logical sequence, resulting in a time of 8769.16 seconds and a total distance traveled of 21.70 meters. This achieved an efficiency of 17.11% in production capacity. In conclusion, it is determined that, through the correlation of processes by determining their proximity, the new plant layout optimizes the traveled distance by 3.69 meters, equivalent to an efficiency of 14.53%.Item Propuesta de distribución de planta para la empresa “Gametalcris(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización, 2022-09) Martínez Soto, Bryan Alexander; Ortiz Sailema, Christian IsmaelThe purpose of this research work was improve the productivity of the company Calzado KF Barona, developing a study of times and movements in the process of manufacturing men's casual footwear. Through this study, time wastes and excessive transports have been identified due to a bad distribution of the production process and that is why a plant redistribution proposal has been made using the SLP methodology in order to establish a chain production that benefits the company by improving its productivity. Therefore, it is important to highlight the steps for the development of the research, which begins with the collection of information of the company and the current production processes within it, using tools such as flowcharts and flowcharts to recognize the activities that are performed in each area; it continues with the taking of times and movements of these activities within each area, identifying the bottleneck and excessive travel times that harm the company. From this, a plant redistribution is proposed through the SLP methodology that reduces these time wastes, organizing correctly the work areas and allowing a better flow of material. Reducing in more than 70% the transports, optimizing the processes, achieving an increase of the production in 88 pairs per month and raising the production capacity in 8.4%, which reflects the improvement of the productivity allowing gains of $880 per month in monetary values.Item Estudio de tiempos y movimientos para mejorar la productividad en el área de producción de floreros en la empresa “Master Fibra”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización, 2022-09) Lizano Guzmán, Génesis Nicole; Ortiz Guerrero, Daysi MargaritaThe purpose of this research project is to improve the productivity of the company MASTER FIBRA through the development of a study of times and movements in the production area of vases; the application of this tool allows improving the production line through the standardization of processes and reduction of unproductive times, thus increasing the capacity and minimizing production costs. In the first instance, an initial situation analysis was carried out by collecting information on the production processes carried out in the different sheds that the company owns, focusing mainly on the vase production areas, which is the subject of the study. Since the company has 44 models of flower pots, an ABC analysis was applied in order to analyze the manufacturing process of the model with the highest demand. Subsequently, all the information on the Milan flower pot, known as the star product, was documented through flow charts, characterization sheets, process, analytical and route diagrams, and the construction of the layout. Through the application of the time and motion study, the normal and standard time and the daily capacity for each of the processes were calculated. From this, the bottleneck and problems in the production line were identified, such as the inadequate distribution in its facilities, for which the SLP (Systematic Plant Layout Planning) methodology was proposed in order to reduce the distances between areas, also eliminating unnecessary movements. With the proposal, a 1,49% improvement was obtained with respect to the current one, reducing the standard time from 429,82 min to 423,82 min.
