Sewer networks are necessary to improve the quality of life of people who have this service; For this reason, the objective of this project is to design the sanitary sewer system for the Nitón sector belonging to the San Pedro de Pelileo canton in the province of Tungurahua. For its implementation, the project was divided into three different stages that guaranteed an adequate design, starting with the topographic survey that helped us determine slopes and elevations, then the design parameters were established respecting each of the standards mentioned, especially the Bolivian Standard NB 688, which was in charge of the formulas; in order to determine the layout of pipes and location of each of the wells within the project, complying in the same way with hydraulic gradients and velocities, a study of the existing population and its water consumption was then carried out. Finally, an economic study was detailed, in which the items were identified and later the technical specifications, APUs and the final budget of said design were drawn up. The result was a sanitary sewer network consisting of 123 wells, of which 30 were jump wells, including 20 wells connected by means of a 0.40 by 0.40m square concrete channel in the final section that enters the WWTP in order to reduce the speed of the flows. As for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), the result was the design of an inlet channel, two screens, two sedimentation tanks, a percolator and a sludge drying bed. Finally, it was concluded that the designs carried out are satisfactory, since they comply with each of the values established within the aforementioned standards.

Drinking water is essential for sustainability in urban and rural areas. For this reason, a proposal was developed to optimize the drinking water supply system in the Chantilín parish. During the technical inspection, it was identified that the system did not cover a neighborhood belonging to the parish and at several points in the network the pressures were excessive or there was a shortage due to water theft on certain days, which motivated the need to carry out this technical project and allowed to diagnose the current state of the system components and the level of operation of the network. This project began with preliminary studies where a cadastre of the existing network of the sector was made, later a topographic survey was carried out with a drone that served to trace the proposed network. Additionally, a hydraulic evaluation of the system was carried out with the measurement of pressures with a manual manometer, in order to determine the efficiency of the system, which led to developing a simulation of the existing network using specialized software in static and dynamic conditions, verifying whether the speeds and pressures were adequate. The improvement proposal includes an optimization plan with a 25-year projection, aligned with the design parameters established by Ecuadorian regulations. Subsequently, a reference budget was prepared with a total value of $328,823.85, which will be presented to the members of the Chantilín Potable Water Management Board (JAAPCH), and technical plans were drawn up detailing each aspect of the proposed improvement process.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Chicaiza Moposita, Jefferson Paul; Moya Medina, Dilon German
The study highlights the importance of maintenance and conservation of the flexible pavement on the road that connects the San Jacinto and Huapante Grande neighborhoods in the San Andrés parish, Píllaro canton, province of Tungurahua. This road is affected by physical (lack of drainage, cracks, potholes, among others) and environmental agents that diminish its service capacity, affecting the mobility of users and in turn the productivity of the sector. To address this problem, field and laboratory studies were carried out to identify structural failures and propose viable solutions. Initially, a traffic study was carried out to determine both current and future traffic, classifying the road as a Type I collector. Through the PCI method, the current condition of the pavement was evaluated, classifying it in the Regular range. In addition, through the Benkelman beam deflection test, it was found that the road infrastructure showed significant damage to the asphalt layer and subgrade, classifying it as Type IV, indicating the need for a complete reconstruction, for which soil samples were taken every 1000 m along the study road to determine its classification and determine the design CBR. Based on the results obtained, the pavement structure was designed to include a 5 cm asphalt layer, a 10 cm class III base and a 20 cm class III sub-base. Finally, a reference budget of $785,958.08 was prepared, based on detailed technical specifications and items.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Aguilar Salazar, David Salomón; Aldás Sánchez, Milton Rodrigo
An analysis of the current situation of the Vía Cunchibamba – San Andrés was carried out due to its intense commercial and tourist activity, which has caused a notable deterioration in its surface. Given this circumstance, it will be deemed necessary to examine the deficiencies and condition of the road, identifying the most worn areas and critical problems, in order to propose a maintenance plan that guarantees safe and comfortable circulation. A research process was initiated to carry out a georeferenced topographic survey, collecting 550 points. Then, a vehicle count was carried out for 12 continuous hours over 7 consecutive days, determining the projected TPDA and TPDAf for 20 years, considering the road as a Class II Collector. Next, the soil was studied using granulometry tests and Atterberg limits, making pits of one cubic meter for each kilometer and in the initial Abscissa, the California Support test, obtaining an average of 20.43 percent, classifying it as a subgrade quality from Fair to Good and Excellent. In addition, a deflection analysis was carried out in the rolling layer using the Benkelman Beam, showing type I deflections. Finally, the Pavement Condition Index method was used, identifying existing faults on the road to carry out the respective maintenance plan and a reference budget for conservation so that the road can be in an optimal state for its use.
