Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Chicaiza Moposita, Jefferson Paul; Moya Medina, Dilon GermanThe study highlights the importance of maintenance and conservation of the flexible pavement on the road that connects the San Jacinto and Huapante Grande neighborhoods in the San Andrés parish, Píllaro canton, province of Tungurahua. This road is affected by physical (lack of drainage, cracks, potholes, among others) and environmental agents that diminish its service capacity, affecting the mobility of users and in turn the productivity of the sector. To address this problem, field and laboratory studies were carried out to identify structural failures and propose viable solutions. Initially, a traffic study was carried out to determine both current and future traffic, classifying the road as a Type I collector. Through the PCI method, the current condition of the pavement was evaluated, classifying it in the Regular range. In addition, through the Benkelman beam deflection test, it was found that the road infrastructure showed significant damage to the asphalt layer and subgrade, classifying it as Type IV, indicating the need for a complete reconstruction, for which soil samples were taken every 1000 m along the study road to determine its classification and determine the design CBR. Based on the results obtained, the pavement structure was designed to include a 5 cm asphalt layer, a 10 cm class III base and a 20 cm class III sub-base. Finally, a reference budget of $785,958.08 was prepared, based on detailed technical specifications and items. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Chicaiza Chabla, Carla Paola; Pérez Maldonado, Ruth LorenaThe stabilization of granular bases with industrial slag presents challenges, such as variability in physical and mechanical properties and the need for precise dosing. To address this, the influence of adding electric arc furnace dust and coal ash in different proportions to a class 4 granular base was analyzed, with the purpose of increasing the quality of the material and reducing the environmental impact derived from the extraction of non-renewable natural resources by promoting the reuse of wastes. It was carried out by means of a laboratory experimental design with controlled conditions, following current regulations, to measure the fundamental properties that govern a granular base. Among the main results, the use of electric arc furnace dust with a presence of 7 percent; and 15 percent for coal ash influenced the granulometric distribution defining the material as a class 3 base, in addition coal ash allowed cataloging the material as a class 2 and/or class 1A base; the CBR bearing capacity increased its value by 10.03 and 18.44 percent respectively; as regards dry density with values of 2.025 and 2.001 grams per cubic centimeter, suitable for dense materials since the granular base layer must be more resistant and with less deformation capacity. The results of this research can serve as a starting point for the innovation of materials to stabilize the granular layers of the pavement structure. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Jami Maigua, Eddy Fabricio; Aldás Sánchez, Milton RodrigoDue to the poor condition of the roads belonging to the Pillig Loma neighborhood, it was necessary to carry out the necessary studies to access a budget that the Decentralized Autonomous Government of the Cotopaxi Province issues for the construction of different projects in the province, with the purpose of generating a contribution for the improvement of the roads in the neighborhood. For the development of the present project, socialization was carried out with the beneficiary population to determine the roads to be designed, after which a topographic survey was carried out, and a vehicular traffic count; information that allowed to determine the main characteristics that the roads will have. The geometric design of the roads was carried out according to the specifications issued by the MOP 2003, studies corresponding to the soils were carried out to determine the characteristics, which allowed to generate information for the design of the pavement structure allowing to guarantee a correct long-term performance, finally, the plans and a referential budget of the project were generated. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-03) Tibán Mashapuncho, Edwin Patricio; Moreira Cedeño, Fricson LutgardoThe purpose of this degree work is to propose a conservation plan for the pavement structure of the Panzaleo - Mulalillo road in the specified section, for which several activities described below were carried out. In the first instance, a topographic survey of the road was carried out, and to establish the condition of the current pavement, the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method was used, which through visual inspections on the surface identifies types of deterioration, severity and quantity that allow to establish the possible causes of deterioration at the surface level. In addition, to fully and functionally evaluate the pavement structure of the road under study, the test was carried out with the Benkelman Beam, which does not demand many resources and is a non-destructive test, it does not alter the integrity of the system. This test allows to obtain an objective and realistic evaluation of the structural behavior of the pavement since in many pavements the problem lies in terms of its structure; in this way an effective maintenance decision can be made. Likewise, in order to carry out laboratory tests and soil studies, soil samples were collected along the road in the specified section, aware of the fundamental role in the general behavior of the road played by the characteristics and mechanical properties of the materials that make up the different layers of the pavement structure; also considering the effect of traffic and weather conditions to which the road is exposed. Based on the analysis and results obtained according to the established standards, it was concluded that the Panzaleo - Mulalillo road in the province of Cotopaxi is in very good conditions of service to its users and a routine maintenance is proposed. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-02) Salinas Terán, Danny Paul; Bayas Altamirano, Myriam MarisolFor the development of this technical project, a topographic survey was carried out, where it was possible to obtain 471 topographic points and determine a flat type topography, in the same way, a class IV road could be obtained by counting vehicular traffic, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works. The study of soils was carried out, determining their physical properties (granulometry, SUCS classification, Atterberg limits, humidity percentage, maximum dry density, optimum humidity), and mechanical (design CBR), which was used for the calculation of the Flexible pavement structure supported by AASHTO Standard 93. In addition, the geometric layout of the road was improved based on the 2003 Standard for Geometric Design of Roads, meeting the requirements for horizontal and vertical design, later the transversal design of the road was also carried out. Finally, the project's referential budget was carried out together with its analysis of unit prices, revealing an estimated amount for the construction of the roa.
