    Análisis de defectos en el proceso de confección de bividis en la empresa M&B Textiles bajo la metodología Six Sigma

    The poor quality of textile products had a negative impact on companies, which caused economic losses by selling second-hand garments at a lower price, for which the present investigation aims to develop an analysis of defects in the process of making garments. bividis in the company M&B Textiles under the Six Sigma methodology. The methodology used is developed based on the six sigma steps such as Define, measure, analyze, improve and control, in order to determine potential failures and establish proposals for improvement. The results of the defects underlie in the manufacturing area with defects of higher concentration in oil stains with 60.63% and unpolished seams with 18.90%, in which they represent sigma values of 2.37 and 3.02 that indicate that the process has a low performance that modifications must be made in the process. It is concluded that the main causes of the second-hand products are related to the lack of maintenance of sewing machines, lack of cleanliness and the lack of a correct identification protocol for garments, for which, through the improvement proposal, the procedures are established. and instructions to be applied and improve the quality of the product.

    The objective of this project is to establish a set of procedures to standardize the maintenance activities for Caterpillar machinery at Inmobiliaria Freire Oriental CIA. LTDA. The project analyzes the processes involved in both preventive and corrective maintenance of the machines. The recommended service hours for maintenance provided by Caterpillar were identified. A maintenance schedule was established to organize and prioritize maintenance activities according to their importance and urgency. A manual was created specifying the actions to be performed in each maintenance procedure, such as changing, performing, lubricating, and inspecting. The aim is to ensure that the excavators operate optimally and to prevent failures or issues that could cause production stoppages and economic losses. Additionally, the project promotes the incorporation of new work methods and the optimization of raw material resources. Preventive and corrective maintenance plans are implemented to keep the machinery in optimal condition and to minimize the impact on operational continuity.

    Diseño de la distribución de planta para mejorar los procesos productivos en la empresa Deportex

    The purpose of this research is to propose a physical redistribution of the facilities of the company DEPORTEX. An integral proposal is presented to improve the operational efficiency, proposing a physical redistribution of the facilities. The importance of this study lies in resolving identified bottleneck in the ironing process, and improving the company's production capacity. To achieve these objectives, several procedures were used, such as time analysis, Guerchet's method for calculating the physical space required, SLP methodology for plant layout, FlexSim simulation and the application of WinQSB software. The results obtained revealed that the proposed redistribution generated a significant increase of 12.05% in monthly production, eliminating the need for overtime and generating an estimated monthly savings of $1068.96. This approach not only improves DEPORTEX's operational efficiency, but also optimizes resources and strengthens its competitiveness in the athletic hosiery manufacturing industry. The main contributions of these results include providing DEPORTEX with a practical strategy to improve its operational efficiency, effectively adapt to market demands, and improve its profitability. This research, by offering tangible solutions, contributes to the more efficient management of resources and to the company's ability to face the challenges of the industry successfully.

    Diseño de un sistema de gestión de almacenamiento y distribución en una compañía comercial ferretera

    El proyecto de investigación trata sobre el diseño de un sistema de gestión de almacenamiento y distribución en una compañía comercial ferretera, en función de varios problemas que han venido acarreando la empresa, principalmente el sobre stock de inventario que se tiene en el Centro de Distribución y los peligros que esto representa tanto para el personal que trabaja en el área de logística como para los productos almacenados. La principal propuesta que llegó a implementarse fue la inversión en nuevas estructuras de carga semi pesada específicamente para el proceso de preparación de pedidos (picking) y así poder tener diferenciado este proceso con el de almacenes, cada uno con su respectiva responsabilidad y custodio de su jefatura y personal operativo. Es decir, tener tres localidades, dos puntos de recepción, almacenamiento y abastecimiento; y un punto para preparación de pedidos y despacho de mercadería a las diferentes rutas. Como resultados de este proyecto después de realizar un diagnóstico de la situación actual del Centro de Distribución mediante la metodología IPISI (infraestructura, procesos, inventarios, seguridad laboral e indicadores de gestión) y realizar una estratificación de todos los productos mediante la metodología ABC o análisis de Pareto, con la finalidad de identificar y categorizar los ítems que generan mayor valor y rentabilidad para la empresa; se pudo aumentar la productividad del personal operativo en un 20% en promedio, y aumentar la calidad de despachos en un 10,5% en promedio con la implementación de este proyecto.

    Diseño de una distribución de planta para la empresa Armend Safe

    In the present research project, the aim is to implement strategies to increase business competitiveness, one of which is the efficient management of work areas. Currently, it has been identified that the layout of these areas is inadequate, hindering the continuity of various processes. To address this, a facility distribution proposal has been established for ARMENDSAFE, a company dedicated to manufacturing safes. An effective distribution is expected to improve productivity and optimize resource use within the organization and its facilities, as part of its strategy to enhance and expand corporately. Using the methodology known as the Research Project, which allowed the application of knowledge acquired during the Industrial Engineering degree, a field investigation was carried out. This included several stages, such as product differentiation, information gathering on the production process, time studies, application of facility distribution methodologies, and simulations. The application of the Guerchet method, along with simulations in FlexSim, resulted in a more efficient and better-organized production plant. The redistribution of spaces and the optimization of material flow contributed to greater productivity and a safer, more orderly operation within the industry. After completing the investigation, a facility design proposal was developed, which includes workstations and a detailed analysis of suitable spaces within the company. Additionally, this design was analyzed using FlexSim: 3D Simulation Modeling and Analysis Software to evaluate the proposal, and the model results showed an impressive precision level of 95.5%. This improvement is expected to enhance productivity and reduce distances within the production plant.

    Estudio de tiempos y métodos para la optimización de los procesos productivos y la gestión de inventario en la empresa de suelas de zapatillas “BRPLAST”.

    The present study focuses on optimising production processes and inventory management at BRPlast, a company dedicated to manufacturing ultraboost sports soles made from expanded PVC and TPU. The central problem identified is the lack of process optimisation and poor coordination between areas, which affects the operational efficiency and competitiveness of the company. The project's objective is to diagnose the current situation, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements to reduce production times. The methodology used combines direct observation, interviews, and document analysis, supported by tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and AutoCAD, along with real-time data capture devices. Multifactor productivity is evaluated, and industrial process characterisation matrices are used to identify areas for improvement. The results highlight the efficient structure of the production lines, with semi-automatic processes that minimise delays and an ergonomic layout that avoids bottlenecks. The inventory analysis reveals that single-colour expanded PVC soles are the best-selling product, classified as class A in the ABC inventory control method. Differentiated reorder points are established to ensure the timely availability of raw materials. Finally, the importance of continuing to improve operational efficiency and strategic inventory management is highlighted to maintain and strengthen BRPlast's competitiveness in the sports soles market.

    Estudio de tiempos y movimientos en el área de producción de juguetes caninos a base de carnaza de la empresa Soguar S.A.

    The companies involved in the production of dog bones made from rawhide face critical challenges associated with excessive waste generation in their processes. Therefore, this research project has conducted a time and motion study in the rawhide-based canine toy production area of SOGUAR S.A. with the aim of improving production processes. The study began with the collection of information about the current situation of the company through direct observation and interviews with the general manager and production area operators. After an initial diagnosis of the company, an ABC analysis was conducted using the 2022 sales history to identify the product with the highest demand. Products with item numbers 6153 and 6910, were selected as the primary focus of the study, representing 32.45% of accumulated revenue. The production line consists of 19 processes, for which analytical flowcharts were created to provide a detailed analysis of the item's path. Time measurements were taken using the zero-return method. Subsequently, the standard time was calculated, resulting in 89.09 seconds/unit for item 6153 and 89.43 seconds/unit for item 6910. Production capacity was then calculated for each process, determining the bottleneck in the packing process. As a proposed improvement, the addition of an employee to the packing process activities is suggested. A comparative analysis for one day, one week, and one month was conducted, achieving a 50% improvement in capacity by employing two operators, thereby mitigating the bottleneck. Through the proposed methodology, 17 non-value-adding activities were identified in the packing area for both study products. Implementing the improvement proposal optimized the production process by 18.18% for item 6153 and 8.77% for item 6910. Finally, the standardization of the work method was established through work instructions.

    Estudio de tiempos y movimientos para la mejora de la productividad en la Empresa Lácteos Crelac

    El proyecto de investigación se realizó en la empresa lácteos Crelac. Inicialmente, se describió a la empresa y mediante un análisis realizado a cada línea de producción se identificó que el queso fresco de 900 gramos era el producto más viable. enfocando así el estudio para su línea de producción. Para la mejora de la productividad se siguieron 4 etapas principales. La primera etapa consistió en conocer la situación actual de la empresa mediante el levantamiento de procesos. En la segunda etapa el estudio de tiempos y movimientos permitió calcular el tiempo estándar y establecer una capacidad de producción de 12 lotes diarios. Para la tercera etapa se realizó un diagnóstico a través del VSM donde se identificaron desperdicios como esperas, movimientos y transportes innecesarios. La cuarta etapa involucró propuestas de mejora como: cursogramas analíticos propuestos para optimizar actividades, balanceo de líneas para equilibrar las cargas de trabajo lo que redujo los tiempos muertos de 75.92 minutos a 13.14 minutos y elevó la eficiencia de producción del 67.41% al 90.51%, y la implementación de las 5S para lograr un entorno de trabajo limpio y organizado. Estas propuestas tuvieron como objetivo reducir los desperdicios identificados en la línea de producción de queso fresco 900 gramos. Finalmente se realizó un análisis de la mejora obtenida donde se determinó un aumento en la capacidad de producción a 13 lotes por día, esto se traduce en un aumento de la productividad del 8.3% pasando de 144 quesos por hora a 155 quesos por hora.

    Estudio de tiempos y movimientos para la mejora del proceso de lavado en la producción de jeans de la empresa Anderson jean’s

    This research project was carried out in ANDERSON JEAN'S company, specifically in the production area. Initially, an organization general description was made, with the purpose of evidencing production process and selecting the company’s main demanded service through the application of an ABC analysis. The main objective of this research is to propose tools to improve the company's production process in order to increase its productivity levels through the execution of a time and motion study to obtain a standard time for operations of production process and calculate productive capacity of current situation organization, in order to identify the stages or activities that can be improved. A relevant factor to define a process improvement is the reduction of waste found in the production line such as: waiting, unnecessary movements and over-processing; adopting 5S's, SMED and standardized work methodologies application. Finally, found results show a favorable scope for ANDERSON JEAN'S, since the cycle time of the process was reduced from 315.59 minutes to 291.32 minutes for a 70 garments batch, which was reflected in a 7.69% improvement in the entire production process for obtaining the BIG PANTS STON + SAN BLASS + MOTOR. In addition, when analyzing the two situations, it is clearly shown that the company improves its economic income by $939.55 per month, which represents an increase in the company's income of 6.27%.

    Estudio de tiempos y movimientos para la mejora del proceso de producción de los embutidos tipo II en la fábrica embutidos Miraflores

    The purpose of this project is to study the production process of the star products of the “Embutidos Miraflores” factory, the boton paisa and special chorizo, to determine how much better the process is with the reduction of times and movements through the application of supplement tables established by the International Labor Organization, which help to obtain time results that are as real as possible, considering basic needs and others factors that cannot be ignored in the analysis of a process. Due to the fact that the production process of the company is of a food type for handling derivatives of meat products, there is a constant limitation throughout the entire study, which is the composition formula of the sausages. Therefore, any modification in the production chain must guarantee that the formula will not be affected, since this requires chemical analysis in laboratory studies. Based on this, data collection techniques have been applied over several weeks of observation of the production process of both sausages in the factory. The prolonged observation process has made it possible to determine the inconveniences that limit the optimization of said processes, among which are the characteristics of the infrastructure, the working capacity of the machines in terms of volume and the performance of the workers; and based on the technical analysis of the collected data, application proposals have been proposed such as the implementation of a load transport car and the change of location of two process machines, which would significantly improve production, specifically in the reduction of processing time. labor, 9.38% for the paisa button and 11.24% for the special chorizo. Said improvement in labor time is justified by a reduction in labor costs for each production batch of 35 kilos, which would be an economy of $0.90 for the paisa button and $0.82 for the special chorizo.

    Estudio de tiempos y movimientos para la optimización de los procesos productivos en la empresa Arboriente S.A.

    The purpose of this research is to conduct a time and motion study and subsequently propose improvements for the productive processes in the unwinding area of Arboriente S.A., a company located in the Pastaza province dedicated to the manufacturing and commercialization of plywood panels. The research begins with the collection of information about the company, a detailed description of the productive processes, and an initial diagnosis conducted in the unwinding area through non-structured interviews with area supervisors. To achieve this, process recording sheets, analytical flowcharts, and route diagrams were employed, facilitating the identification of the work method used in each activity. Subsequently, a time and motion study with corresponding analyses was conducted for each subprocess, determining the cycle time and production capacity. It was identified that there are excessive distances between work zones for material supply or waste collection, and it was observed that the debarking of logs in the Peeler and the unwinding process of logs in the Cremona Lathe have longer cycle times. As an improvement proposal, a redesign of the work zones for the storage and selection of logs is suggested, resulting in substantial improvements in efficiency, achieving a 25.87% saving in unproductive distances. Additionally, a new work methodology is proposed to eliminate unproductive activities and reduce idle times, leading to a percentage increase in the production capacity of the peeling machine and the Cremona lathe by 19.74% and 17.84%, respectively. Finally, a procedures manual was developed to instruct operators on the appropriate work method for standardizing their activities.

    Estudio de tiempos y movimientos para la optimización del proceso de producción de yogur en la empresa pasteurizadora Nutrición y vida S.A”

    This research project arises with the need to improve the process of making yogurt, the general objective is based in realize a study of times and movements for the optimization of the production process of the product with the highest demand in the company "Pasteurizadora Nutrición y Vida S.A", the ABC methodology was used to determine the star product. The product with the highest demand in the production line is the yogurt in bottle of 4-liter Strawberry flavor, with the time study it was identified that the process that slows down the production line is lactic fermentation, which limits the company's production capacity to 99 units per day; for the movement study, the bimanual diagram was applied, which reduced a total of 11 non-efficient movements. In addition, an improvement proposal was made which deals with a plant redistribution applying the SLP method, also the number of machines needed for each area was calculated in order to increase production capacity, the FlexSim tool was used to simulate the current and proposed situation. Finally, the results of the plant redistribution show a reduction from 559.48 to 342.75 meters was obtained, decreasing 38.75% in distance traveled, also an improvement of 0.60% was obtained in process time from 1544.47 to 1535.87 minutes. 87 minutes, subsequently it was determined that one more machine is needed in the fermentation area, by simulating these results a production of 3500 units/month was obtained, comparing the current production vs. the improvement represents an increase of 1280 units which corresponds to an increase of 57.66% in production and a growth in monetary value equivalent to $3456.00.

    The purpose of this research work was improve the productivity of the company Calzado KF Barona, developing a study of times and movements in the process of manufacturing men's casual footwear. Through this study, time wastes and excessive transports have been identified due to a bad distribution of the production process and that is why a plant redistribution proposal has been made using the SLP methodology in order to establish a chain production that benefits the company by improving its productivity. Therefore, it is important to highlight the steps for the development of the research, which begins with the collection of information of the company and the current production processes within it, using tools such as flowcharts and flowcharts to recognize the activities that are performed in each area; it continues with the taking of times and movements of these activities within each area, identifying the bottleneck and excessive travel times that harm the company. From this, a plant redistribution is proposed through the SLP methodology that reduces these time wastes, organizing correctly the work areas and allowing a better flow of material. Reducing in more than 70% the transports, optimizing the processes, achieving an increase of the production in 88 pairs per month and raising the production capacity in 8.4%, which reflects the improvement of the productivity allowing gains of $880 per month in monetary values.

    Gestión de bodegas y manejo de productos para la optimización de costos en la distribuidora comercial CAMDIS

    El presente trabajo es el resultado de la necesidad de optimizar los costos en la distribuidora comercial CAMDIS, siendo la inadecuada gestión de la bodega e incorrecto manejo de productos la principal causa de la problemática central; de esta manera es como la presente investigación tiene como objetivo optimizar los costos en la distribuidora comercial CAMDIS; para ello se utilizó una metodología enfocada en la investigación cualitativa, y bibliográfica documental, así como herramientas de análisis y recolección de información como: fichas de levantamiento de los procesos, diagrama de procesos, diagrama de recorrido del encargado de bodega, cursogramas sinópticos, con los que se identificaron los procesos y actividades actuales de la distribuidora, el recorrido que realiza el encargado de bodega en las instalaciones y el flujo del trabajo del mismo. Como resultado de la investigación se propuso el cambio de las instalaciones de CAMDIS a una de mayor tamaño y cambiar la dinámica de la bodega, que debe estar dirigida a través de la ejecución de cinco procesos: recepción de mercadería, colocación, almacenamiento, preparación de pedidos y revisión empaque y despacho. Esta propuesta se conformó de varias etapas; desde la determinación de las actividades para los cinco procesos, la elaboración de nuevos diagramas de proceso y diagramas de recorrido para las nuevas instalaciones de CAMDIS, se determinó la demanda de los productos y la afinidad entre los mismos mediante el software WhAffinity para decidir la mejor ubicación de los ítems en la nueva bodega, también se validaron dichas ubicaciones con el software WhHeatMap, esto permitió optimizar los costos operativos en CAMDIS, lo cual se evidenció en la comparación de los costos anteriores versus los actuales, pasando de un gasto promedio mensual de $3871,74 a $3507,33 entre los meses de septiembre a enero del año 2022 - 2023; llegando a concluir que con la adecuada gestión de bodegas y correcto manejo de productos se pueden reducir los costos de operación.

    Gestión de inventarios en la empresa distribuidora de confitería y productos de consumo masivo “Dulceza”

    The following document outlines the development of an inventory management model for the company "Dulceza," where the current situation of the logistics area was identified through the use of interviews based on a specialized methodology called IPISI. Various parameters of the company were evaluated, identifying several areas for improvement, including limited storage capacity, lack of action in inventory management, and the absence of established policies and standards to aid in replenishment decision-making. Lastly, the absence of documented manuals detailing the activities and controls necessary for management was noted. All of this was taken into account to develop a model tailored to their needs. The company's inventory was classified using an analytical hierarchical model, considering the criteria of individuals involved in inventory management, allowing for the establishment of robust hierarchies agreed upon by all parties involved. This facilitated adequate stratification to focus measures on products deemed most relevant or in category A. The demand behavior of these items was analyzed to establish a management model based on fixed review periods. Despite a 43.44% increase in demand during the studied period, inventory acquisition costs increased by only 1.02%. This minimal increase is due to higher-cost items experiencing decreased demand, while lower-cost items see increased demand according to forecasts.

    Gestión de inventarios para la optimización de costos en la bodega de la empresa Davmotor

    The problem arises from the need to have an inventory management system for stock control of the warehouse according to the requirements of the company, because the warehouse does not have an adequate inventory management which generates problems in its processes of supply and distribution of materials. The study was carried out under a descriptive research, which is designed in three phases. The results obtained in the following work were as follows: with the application of the power of two policies methodology, a decrease in the number of orders to be placed was achieved with the current model of ordering 978 orders and with the proposal only 624 orders should be placed, generating a savings of $1458.53 in addition to a savings in the cost of maintenance of 18.71%, which is equivalent to a decrease of $451.71. With the application of this methodology, a savings of $1910.24 can be generated in a period of one year

    In this research, an inventory management system is established for the meat company La Crianza. For the development of the research, the main causes of the deficient inventory management were identified through observation files and surveys of the operators. The main reasons for the problem are that the working methodology in the warehouse is not defined and inventory control systems are not applied. Based on the current diagnosis of the company, activities were established for the application of the 5S methodology in the storage area, inventory policies, processes for requesting, issuing and receiving purchase orders, and criteria were defined for the selection of suppliers. For the development of inventory management policies, the forty meat items sold by the company were taken as a stratified population, the sample was selected through an ABC analysis analyzing the net profit of each product as a classification factor. The result of the analysis showed that nine articles represent 79.80% of the profitability of the company. Weekly sales in 2020 are analyzed from the selected articles, by means of a graphical test carried out in the Minitab software it was determined that the sales of the products conform to a normal distribution with a pvalue> 0.05. Once the normality of the data was verified, periodic review policies were established for each of the items,for the analysis one day was assumed as replacement time and the acquisition frequency established by the company was respected because the products analyzed have a R=reduced shelf life. Indicators were defined to determine the efficiency of the inventory management system, including the duration of the inventory, an indicator that currently exceeds the five days of storage established in the company's policies. It was also determined that 7 of the 12 suppliers that the company has approved with a rating greater than 6/10 the evaluation carried out according to the proposed criteria, the main factor that was analyzed for the rating was the quality of the supplies.

    It is known that lack of studies on the standardization of processes generates waste in the production process, ending in waits and delays in the planned delivery times of an order batch from a plant. A study carried out at BALANVALLE CÍA. LTDA. and the objective were to analyze the waste generated in the production plant, through the field methodology steps of identifying, evaluating, and establishing control over the activities that do not add value to a product were carried out. It began with the sales analysis that established complete bovine feed as most in-demand product with average annual sales of $193,218, equivalent to 63.35% of the total. Through the process survey, a total of 83 activities were identified, where the existence of 16 waste generated in the areas of the production plant was determined. The 5s methodology determined that the company must be regulated internally by eliminating unnecessary objects that do not add value to the product under the principle of a place for everything and everything in its place and generating a culture of cleanliness on the line. of production. Through the proposal of the procedure’s manual in which each plant process was placed and 10 unnecessary activities were eliminated, an improvement equivalent to 12.05% was obtained.

    This research proposes the implementation of process management to improve the 4- tray static furnace production line at “Industria Metalica Cotopaxi”, where the main problem identified was the lack of coordination, standardization, and documentation in the development of activities related to operational processes. In addition, it was evidenced the execution of tasks in an empirical way due to the fact of absence of a standardized guide, in fact, the workers perform repetitive tasks or tasks that do not add value. Therefore, a rigorous analysis of the company’s current situation has been carried out through different methodologies, such as the observational field, a free interview with the production coordinator, and the gathering of processes using management tools such as information collection sheets. These cards detail the essential characteristics and observations of the activities. Flow charts were implemented to develop a fundamental role in the standardization, making it possible to visually represent the sequence of activities that make up each of the operational processes. Furthermore, six technical indicator sheets were developed to ensure the proper flow of activities, improving the performance of the processes, thus contributing to continuous upgrading in production. Finally, a manual of processes and procedures was developed to provide the company’s employees with a standardized guide for the execution of various activities in the different processes. This manual integrates records for each sequence, thus providing greater control over the developed activities, with a prioritized focus on the necessities and requirements of the customer.

    The present investigation proposes a management by processes oriented to the activities carried out in the egg production line of the AVIMOLDE farm. It began with the collection of information in the company to identify the shortcomings that existed at the time of carrying out the work, this is due to the fact that the poultry farm does not have standardized documents, and the lack of indicators, mission, vision and organizational values was also identified. The identified shortcomings were the starting point for the proposed study, which began with the construction of a structural organigram where the existing hierarchical chain in the organization was defined, then the necessary information was collected to make a map of processes where they were classified into strategic. operational and support processes according to their relevance. Next, the process characterization sheets were made, which consist of relevant information such as the input and output of the process, in addition, the standardization of all documents was used by applying the technical resolution N°047 of Agrocalidad, the vision, mission, values and business policy were made, to achieve organizational goals, indicators were also proposed that will allow the performance of internal processes to be evaluated and decisions to be made that benefit the poultry farm and finally the results obtained were reflected in a procedures manual, which is the main objective of this degree project, which contributed to the poultry farm to improve its production.
