This research aimed to determine the relationship between managerial leadership and the satisfaction of the priority needs of older adults in a foundation. The results revealed that the satisfaction of the needs of older adults is positively correlated with authoritarian and democratic leadership styles, with authoritarian leadership showing the most significant correlation (r = 0.378, p = 0.001). This finding suggests that a structured leadership style, which offers clarity and stability in management, contributes significantly to the well-being of older adults. On the other hand, democratic leadership also showed a positive relationship, although more moderate (r = 0.246, p = 0.037), indicating that participatory approaches can favor satisfaction, especially when older adults are included in decision-making. Liberal leadership, on the other hand, did not present a significant correlation, suggesting that excessive flexibility and autonomy in management are not ideal for this group, since older adults require clearer and more structured direction. This study highlights the importance of leadership styles in caring for older adults, highlighting that more authoritarian and democratic models can improve the management of their needs. Furthermore, the results are complemented by previous research that highlights deficiencies in the implementation of public policies and the lack of accessibility in health services for older adults, which highlights the need for efficient directive leadership. It is recommended to strengthen leadership training to improve the care and satisfaction of this vulnerable group. Likewise, collaboration between different institutions must be encouraged to design more effective public policies in the care of older adults.

    La Violencia en Familias Codependientes
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-03-18) Cando Guagchinga, Fernando José; Campoverde Quijano, Egda Maribel
Family violence happens when people in a relationship are too dependent on each other. One person has control, and the other feels afraid to leave, even when there is physical or emotional harm. This creates a cycle, where the victim thinks the abuse is normal, and the aggressor continues. The main causes are fear of being alone, low self-esteem, and the idea that love means suffering. Because of this, many people do not ask for help or leave the relationship

The changes that have occurred in families and households in recent decades are not limited to the form they assume in terms of their parental structure. Their transformations occur in a wide range of situations that today show us families and domestic units more diversified in their dynamics and internal composition. Such modifications are implemented by a conjunction of factors of a diverse nature, from those related to socio-demographic and economic phenomena, to those occurring in the cultural sphere, in the area of representations, ideals and aspirations of the population. We live in a time in which women and men in modern times have to work to support the household, but the division of extra-work activities is determined by the type of couple, the conciliations that are given to share them. Throughout the 20th century, especially in its second half, female employment and the limits of modernity: the singularity of the female presence in the labor market The conceptual framework provided by theories, neoclassical, Marxist and patriarchy - neoliberalism, starts from a kind of priority where the sexual division of labor is assumed, without questioning, the sexual division of labor. In the first case, the concept of “opportunity cost” summarizes the female choice between work (understood as participation in domestic and family work) within a given framework of “preferences”. In the present research on “extra-work activities and peer relations of Social Work students”, it deepens significant aspects such as the importance of communication, family, on the part of the population studied, and their relationship with extrawork activities, giving as a result, in general, when it comes to women, it was considered that they value more the contributions in domestic activities with 80%. The culture in terms of the performance of domestic activities, it can be clearly evidenced that even though women have a higher percentage, the changes that have occurred in families and households in recent decades are not limited to the form they assume in terms of their parental structure.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-02-24) Villena Romero, Gianella Patricia; Torres Carrillo, Silvia Susana
Prejudice and social stigma toward ¡individuals with moderate disabilities persist, limiting their opportunities and hindering their transition to adulthood. These barriers negatively impact access to education, employment, and social participation, perpetuating cycles of exclusion and dependence. This study aims to analyze the relationship between social stigma and the transition to adulthood for individuals with moderate disabilities, emphasizing the challenges faced in achieving autonomy and inclusion. Families and caregivers play a crucial role; however, their overprotective attitudes can unintentionally reinforce stigma and limit independence. The research follows a qualitative, descriptive methodology, involving 11 participants with moderate intellectual and physical disabilities and their caregivers, part of the Home and Community Care Unit in Baños de Agua Santa. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and life stories, providing a comprehensive understanding of the participants' lived experiences. Results indicate that social stigma originates from entrenched stereotypes, insufficient institutional support, and a lack of societal awareness, which collectively hinder inclusion and self-determination. Psychological consequences, such as low self-esteem and social 1solation, further exacerbate these 1Ssues. The study concludes by proposing strategies for inclusive public policies, educational initiatives, and community-based programs to reduce stigma and foster the full societal integration of ¡individuals with moderate disabilities. These measures aim to promote equal opportunities, independence, and active participation in society.

Hate speech e inteligencia emocional en estudiantes Universitarios
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-02-24) Toapanta Chiriboga, María Fernanda; Pino Loza, Eulalia Dolores
Hate speech is a historical issue that, with the expansion of the internet and social media, has intensified and spread rapidly, negatively affecting social cohesion and emotional well-being. This phenomenon is characterized by discriminatory expressions directed at individuals or groups based on traits such as ethnic origin, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. In the university context, these divisive narratives can impact students, who face challenges related to their emotional ability to manage and respond to these adverse situations. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and the role played in response to hate speech among university students, using two previously validated instruments. The sample consisted of 160 students from the Social Work program at the Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Through a quantitative approach, data were collected and analyzed using statistical tools that allowed for the identification of behavioral patterns and relationships between the study variables. The results showed a significant correlation between emotional intelligence levels and participation in hate speech contexts. Students with higher emotional intelligence skills were less likely to take on roles as victims, perpetrators, or passive observers in hate speech situations. Additionally, it was found that students’ emotional intelligence levels fluctuate throughout their academic training, improving in intermediate stages but declining in the later semesters, possibly due to factors such as academic stress and professional anxiety. It is noteworthy that emotional intelligence not only acts as a protective factor against hate speech, but also fosters assertive responses and reduces the prevalence of these negative dynamics. Skills such as self-control, empathy, and social competence proved essential for managing interactions related to hate speech. Furthermore, it was observed that Social Work students tend to adopt a measured observer role rather than that of victims or perpetrators; this passivity could perpetuate the phenomenon if it is not transformed into preventive or intervention actions.

Technostress is an adaptation disorder caused by the inability to manage new technologies and devices in a healthy way. The objective of this research was to determine the influence of technostress and social well-being among university students. The study employed a quantitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach. It was conducted with 270 students using proportional stratified sampling, a method that segments the population into various subgroups or strata for analysis. Consequently, a significant sample was taken from each of the three degree programs in the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, ensuring equal participation from all programs. The main findings revealed that students exhibited a moderate level of technostress, including its sub-dimensions: skepticism, anxiety, fatigue, inefficacy, and overall technostress. Similarly, the dependent variable, social well-being, was also found to be at a moderate level

    Movilidad académica y estereotipos culturales
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2025-02-24) Rengifo Landeta, Jhonny Javier; Haro Lara, Aida Patricia
This research examines the relationship between academic mobility and cultural stereotypes. A quantitative approach was used, allowing for precise and objective results. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to 153 students from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences at the Technical University of Ambato. The study is characterized by a solid theoretical framework, supported by thorough bibliographic and field research. This enabled the review of various sources from authors specialized in the topic, delving into the problem and adequately contextualizing the phenomenon under study. The results show that, during academic mobility, local students often exhibit cultural stereotypes toward students from other regions. In some cases, this dynamic can be detrimental to those participating in academic mobility, affecting their experience and integration into the educational environment and creating a sense of exclusion in the academic setting. Academic mobility faces several obstacles that limit students, such as housing, economic, religious, cultural, and social factors. The research topic aligns with the line of investigation on social exclusion and inclusion of students from the perspective of Social Work.

The present research work aims to analyze the impact of power on decision-making related to justice in the commune. This research is part of a research project approved by CONIN: UTA-CONIN-2023-0234-R. The main objective of the research is to determine how power influences justice decisionmaking in the Huapante Grande Commune, addressing concepts such as the distribution and types of power present in the community context, as well as the predominant type of justice in conflict resolution. To achieve these objectives, a mixed methodological approach was adopted, which combined quantitative and qualitative techniques. In the quantitative field, a structured 22-item questionnaire was applied to the inhabitants of the commune, evaluating dimensions such as power and justice using a Likert scale. In the qualitative field, in-depth interviews were conducted with community leaders. These tools made it possible to collect information on the inhabitants' perception regarding community participation, transparency and equity in conflict resolution. Among the main results, it was identified that power in the Huapante Grande Commune is concentrated in certain key actors, including community leaders and influential families. Likewise, it was observed that, although the community values community justice mechanisms, perceptions of inequality and lack of transparency in some processes persist. The research also revealed a significant influence of cultural and social factors in the administration of justice. The conclusions highlight the need to promote more inclusive and participatory practices to guarantee an equitable justice system that reflects the needs and values of the community. In addition, the importance of strengthening the capacities of community leaders to administer justice in a transparent and effective manner is underlined. This study represents a significant contribution to the understanding of the interactions between power and justice in community contexts, offering guidelines to improve local justice systems and foster social cohesion.
