The companies involved in the production of dog bones made from rawhide face critical challenges associated with excessive waste generation in their processes. Therefore, this research project has conducted a time and motion study in the rawhide-based canine toy production area of SOGUAR S.A. with the aim of improving production processes. The study began with the collection of information about the current situation of the company through direct observation and interviews with the general manager and production area operators. After an initial diagnosis of the company, an ABC analysis was conducted using the 2022 sales history to identify the product with the highest demand. Products with item numbers 6153 and 6910, were selected as the primary focus of the study, representing 32.45% of accumulated revenue. The production line consists of 19 processes, for which analytical flowcharts were created to provide a detailed analysis of the item's path. Time measurements were taken using the zero-return method. Subsequently, the standard time was calculated, resulting in 89.09 seconds/unit for item 6153 and 89.43 seconds/unit for item 6910. Production capacity was then calculated for each process, determining the bottleneck in the packing process. As a proposed improvement, the addition of an employee to the packing process activities is suggested. A comparative analysis for one day, one week, and one month was conducted, achieving a 50% improvement in capacity by employing two operators, thereby mitigating the bottleneck. Through the proposed methodology, 17 non-value-adding activities were identified in the packing area for both study products. (Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2023-09) Sánchez Briceño, Christopher Alexander; Tubón Núñez, Edith Elena
The main aim of the following research is the development of a material requirements planning (MRP) for Kipa Amaranto, an agro-industrial company located in Riobamba City. MRP is proposed to be implemented in order to achieve an efficient resource management. This will allow an appropriate planning of raw material acquisition and product manufacturing. Study began by gathering company information such as general data, location, and products. Through an ABC analysis, the most important products were identified. Process sheets and SIPOC diagrams were used to understand processes and relationships between suppliers, inputs, and final products. A crucial step in planning development was time study. Through the use of analytical flowcharts, different relevant processes were mapped, and methods such as Westinghouse were applied to evaluate performance and rest supplements established by the ILO to determine normal and standard times necessary for each process. In addition, an exhaustive analysis of the company's inventories and warehouses was carried out through a relevant layout design. This allowed for more efficient material management and an accurate calculation of costs associated with inventory maintenance. Likewise, historical sales data were used to make 12-month forecasts for the year 2024, which was essential in MRP implementation. A MRP for the year 2024 was developed in great detail, considering the required materials for the company’s four products. MRP application will allow for better planning of the purchases of inputs, avoiding both excess and shortage of inventory, and ensuring the timely availability of materials for production starting. Comparing current costs of $2882.45 to proposed costs of $1936.95 using the MRP, a significant savings of $945.50 was achieved. This saving represents an improvement of 32.80% in economic efficiency, highlighting the positive impact of MRP on resource management.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2023-09) Villacís Silva, Cinthya Solange; López Arboleda, Jéssica Paola
The present study proposes a Process Management Model in the production area of the company Distribuidora de Guantes y Camisetas "Guantex S.A.", this because the company has been harmed by the absence of tools based on process management causing in the workers the incomprehension of the stages of production, tasks and responsibilities, for this reason, the activities within the production area are developed empirically, causing the processes to be carried out in different ways. On the other hand, the lack of guidelines in unforeseen situations causes a misunderstanding of the worker's ways of acting, causing production delays and affecting the quality of work and products. Hence, the main mission of the model is to standardize and document the processes of the production area to improve the development of activities, therefore, the current situation of the company was analyzed and general information was obtained through observation direct and unstructured interview with the owner manager. In addition, the product with the highest demand was identified through the ABC analysis and its operational flow was detailed. Subsequently, the processes to be represented in the process map were identified, in relation to the operational processes, the process sheets were used for their information gathering and diagramming. Indicators were raised for the control of each one of the processes, in turn a study of times was carried out to determine the standard time of each one of them. Finally, the processes and procedures manual was designed as an improvement tool since it will allow the organization to be guided and supported through each description, work instructions and records it contains, in order to execute standardized activities that lead to compliance with the objectives of the company and the expectations of its customers.
