Hip arthroplasty has become a successful surgical procedure in orthopedic surgery worldwide. After the surgical procedure, the recovery of patients takes a considerable time. In this sense, the need to apply a hydrotherapy treatment plan based on the Halliwick technique to recover patients with hip arthroplasty is evident in improving their quality of life and making their recovery process shorter and more effective. This study aimed to apply a hydrotherapy treatment plan based on the Halliwick technique in the recovery of patients with hip arthroplasty. The research was an intervention type because the treatment plan was based on the Halliwick technique. It was applicative because of evaluation instruments such as the Modified Harris scales (Functional Status and Pain) and Tinetti (Gait and Balance). It was longitudinal because an initial and final assessment was conducted for reliable results. The intervention was carried out over 13 weeks in 7 phases: initial interview, signing of informed consent plus initial evaluations of the Modified Harris Scale and Tinetti Scale, socialization with the participants, adaptation to the pool plus stretching exercises, execution of the Hydrotherapy Treatment Plan based on the Halliwick technique, and final assessments of the Modified Harris and Tinetti. It was shown that by applying this technique, there was a shorter and more effective recovery, improved postural and gait control, essential aspects for the reintegration of functional mobility, and recovery of independence in daily activities.

The physical funtionality refers to the ability to carry out daily activities autonomously in the environment. The recreational football offers a modern approach that encourage both social cohesion and the practice of physical activity, key factors to improve or maintain this functionality. Therefore, the objective of this Project was to determine the effects of a recreational training program in the physical functionality of elderly. The sample included 30 elderly between 67 and 82 years old, who belong to “San Juan de Agua Santa” community in Pujili Canton. All participated in a training program based on football, which was developed during 12 weeks with a frequency of three times a week. The participants were evaluated before and after the intervention thought the Senior Fitness Test (SFT) battery and the Lawton and Brody escalation. During the training, the exercises were adapted incorporating technical, recreational and physical components, with simple and combined exercises, both with and without a ball. Each week, the number of repetitions, the difficulty and the time of the activities were gradually increased. Fort he stadistical analysis, the SPSS program was used. The results show significant improvements in the physical functionality of elderly who reach high and moderate levels of physical functionality. In addition, changes were observed in the levels of performance in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. It concludes that the recreational training program base don football is beneficial to improve the physical functionality of elderly since it strengthens their physical capacities leading to a better performance in Instrumental Activities of Daily Living. These areas are closely related, since physical functionality is essential to optimally execute daily tasks that require strength, flexibility, aerobic endurance and agility.

Introduction: People suffer from various musculoskeletal disorders, including shoulder pain. This is a joint with greater mobility in the human body, which is why it is one of the most affected throughout life. (1) The incidence of both tendon and joint injuries increases with age, as soft tissues experience progressive weakening and degeneration. However, repeated microtraumas or overuse related to professional or sports activities are also common causes of soft tissue injuries, regardless of the patient's age. Resistance training with blood flow restriction emerges as an alternative to high-intensity training. The American College of Sports Medicine establishes that the appropriate training intensity to increase maximum strength or muscle size should exceed 70% with 1 maximum repetition. (2) While the BFR establishes that low intensity training with 20-50% with a maximum repetition can increase strength and muscle size. (3) Objective: To determine the effect of the resistance training program with blood flow restriction to enhance muscle development in people with shoulder pain. Methods: This project has a quantitative approach since the statistical part will be managed through the SPSS platform version 29.0, application level, longitudinal and prospective, with a population of 35 young adults with shoulder pain to whom resistance training with blood flow restriction will be applied. Expected results: The aim is to determine the effect of the resistance training program with blood flow restriction to enhance muscle development in people with shoulder pain.

Introduction: Calisthenics consists of a specific form of exercise that adopts artificial postures through specific movements to produce specific and well-defined hygienic and educational effects. And in this sense, it is understood as a set of local gymnastic exercises that have corrective, physiological and pedagogical purposes and are suitable for all types of people. (1) Swimming as a sporting physical activity is considered one of the most complete and beneficial sports disciplines for the human body. The action of moving through water implies a functional demand on the part of the entire locomotor system that favors the development of basic physical capacities and maintains the physical and psychological balance of the body and health, fundamental points for physical well-being. (2) Objective: To determine the effect of a calisthenics training program to improve physical performance in swimming in Military School applicants. Methods: This project is an application in which the calisthenics program will also be carried out for students at the CENEPAMIL training center, where there is a population of 120 students from which a non-probabilistic convenience sample will be made, where 30 students will be included in our study, in which the program will be designed for a 10-week intervention, where 2 sessions per week will be carried out, longitudinal, where there will be three evaluations, one initial, one intermediate, and one final, where the vo2max test, dynamometry, and swimming time test will be used, prospective because future results will be shown, and analytical because more than two variables will be used, it is a quantitative approach because the information will be analyzed in a statistical way using the SPSS platform in version 29.0. Expected results: The expected results after carrying out the program intervention is to improve physical performance in swimming by using body weight as resistance, which helps develop the muscles specifically those used during swimming such as the muscles of the trunk, arms and legs, this may include having greater power and efficiency in water movements, in this way you will improve your performance when swimming.

Aging is a latent problem that requires a multidisciplinary intervention due to the adjacent effects that are evident in this natural process, one of them is cognitive impairment, therefore, techniques have been sought to improve, prevent and anticipate the deterioration of cognitive function. Motor learning is a technique that seeks to recover previously learned functions that have been lost due to different factors, such as time or neuromusculoskeletal diseases. By implementing a motor relearning program focused on traditional games (interest and motivation), it will be possible to solve this problem, which is affecting the elderly population that has been growing during the last decade. Objective: To improve cognitive function through a motor relearning program focused on traditional games in older adults Methods: This study has a quantitative approach because we will use instruments such as the MoCA test (cognitive abilities) (1), the Get Up and Go test that allows us to obtain a diagnosis of the gait of older adults, the Tinetti scale that assesses walking skills and balance (3). The study will be conducted in the GAD of Miñarica II with a population of 30 older adults. It is a prospective, longitudinal and intervention study that will analyze motor relearning skills and cognitive function. The results showed that after applying a motor relearning program through traditional games, the older adults improved their cognitive functions, statistically evidenced according to the Wilcoxon signed rank test, obtaining a p-value of less than 0.05 in the MoCa tests.

(2025-03-11) Guerra Cedillo, Manuel Marcelo; Peñafiel Luna, Andrea Carolina; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de Posgrados
Introduction: trapezius muscle pain is a fairly frequent and difficult to manage entity, so in search of a treatment alternative I propose Richelli's Fascial Quadrant System method, which provides a simplified evaluation to identify the affected fascial quadrants and treat them, by activating trigger points that are related to the alterations of the fascial quadrants of the mentioned muscle. Objective: to evaluate the effect of Richelli's Fascial Quadrant System method in relieving trapezius muscle pain and trigger points by identifying the altered fascial quadrant and treating it. Methods: 40 participants with trapezius muscle pain and active trigger points were convened, by exclusion criteria were left 30 participants between 18 to 50 years, 14 men and 16 women, the intervention was performed through interventions distributed in 2 days per week, for 8 weeks, with a single session, An initial and a final evaluation of the visual analog pain scale (VAS), use of Algometer and nodular palpation in the trapezius muscle was performed with Richelli's Fascail Quadrant System method, the altered fascial quadrants were determined and treated and at the end of its application, the final evaluation was performed recording the results obtained. Results: The statistical analysis showed significant changes (p<0.05) between the initial and final VAS, algometry and nodular palpation evaluations. This confirms the effectiveness of the method in relieving muscle and trigger point pain. Conclusions: Richelli's Fascial Quadrant System method is an effective tool for treating trapezius muscle pain and trigger points.

Prediabetes is characterized by having blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to meet the diagnostic criteria for type 2 diabetes mellitus. This intermediate state predisposes people who suffer from it to precede diabetes. This research proposes a HIIT training plan as a method to reduce high glucose levels in people suffering from prediabetes, with the aim of testing the effectiveness of this training type prescribed and dosed by health personnel. This proposal was originated from the interest in improving the health conditions of the study population and at the same time providing an alternative, timely and effective treatment; and that it does not represent a high cost for the institution where it is developed. The research focuses on determining the effectiveness of the HIIT training plan in the treatment of people with prediabetes, in addition to the behavior of other physiological parameters during its execution. This analytical intervention project, with a quantitative, prospective, longitudinal and application-level approach. It was carried out at the Latacunga Type C Health Center with a 13-week intervention: the first week after the evaluation, the participant was adapted to the exercise, then the training plan was applied for 12 weeks and finally the effects after it were evaluated. The parameters evaluated are: VO2peak (6-minute step test), fasting glucose and risk of diabetes mellitus (FINDRISC). At last, the research findings reveal that HIIT training combined with a low-calorie diet is an effective intervention to improve several health indicators in people with prediabetes, such as: fasting glucose, VO2peak, HRsubmax and consequently the risk of developing diabetes.

Aging worsens the balance which is related with physical functionality and motor skills specially of older adults incorporating walking speed and strength. Determine the effect of the motor relearning to improve dynamic balance through the ludotherapy in older adults. In Ecuador there are many places where people meet to do several activities related with occupational therapy directed to the upper limb but they don’t work with lower limb that’s the reason why this research is important, in our country about 30 to 40% of older adults have a high risk of falls and about the 0,4 % of total older adults population belongs to Ambato City. Motor relearning helps to older adults throughout the personal and interactive participation while they develop their activities in a sure context, based in systems theories, cognitive psychology and neuroplasticity, the ludic platforms what are applied in this research were taken from another research about square stepping exercises, they were adapted in a different easier system of activities. That program is composed of 5 phases that lasted 16 weeks distributed according to the type of activity, with a duration of 10 to 45 minutes for each activity established in the program. The statistics results show differences between the obtained data at the beginning and at the end of this research for Tinetti Test we can appreciate changes of 0,05; the same changes are observed between initial and final results of TUG test, based in this results this program improve the dynamic balance through the ludotherapy in health older adults.
